Had lunch there yesterday and was more than happy with everything about this old pub. They were busy but the extremely friendly staff coped very well and the wait for food was minimal. The standard and range of food was excellent as was the range of drinks on offer. I particularly liked and appreciated the fact they had meals for "seniors", something other pubs should follow. The portions were smaller (as were the prices) and so I didn't have the guilt of having to send perfectly good food back to be wasted. Well done "Lord Nelson"!!!Thank you very much for your kind review,we do try our upmost to make sure everything is to an exceptional standard and when we then receive reviews like this it makes you realise we are doing most things right,although there is always room for improvement which we will continue to do,but again thank you.

After a great meal here in 2017 I was looking forward to visiting again. Sadly, despite being lunchtime at 1.30pm the mushroom and red wine pie "wasn't ready yet". Of the remaining vegetarian/vegan options, 2 of them were curries. Not very imaginative. Finished up our drinks and went to eat elsewhere.

We had a group booking, with everyone arriving at different times. I'd been advised of the menu prior to arriving and we'd both decided what we wanted. Upon arriving and telling the older barman we were in the group, he pushed a limited menu towards us but neither of our choices were on it. When I told him, he reluctantly allowed us to order our 1st choices. We then ordered 1 beer and a water but when the water wasn't given to me, he picked up a half filled glass, finished filling it then went to put ice in it. I like cold water but not ice. I asked him whether it was room temperature and he rolled his eyes at me.In restaurants in Australia, water is generally served cold out of the fridge, so you generally don't need ice. The water I was given was actually a little warm so it needed ice. In regards to our meals, the faggots were tasty and hot, but my tart was only partially heated through.The waitress serving the meals was friendly but the waiter wasn't.Wouldn't go there again.

We always go here when we visit friends in Southampton. The always put on a delicious Sunday roast and have chilled live music to go along with it. They have a great range of beers too!

Son took us here today for a family meal. Went on recommendations from friends and family. Was absolutely amazing! We had the mixed grill , the curry and sides. If you like Indian cuisine this is the best Iâve ever tasted. Also such a friendly pub. Staff very helpful and made us feel so welcomed. Definitely be going back!

Whilst ordering at the bar, two people challenged their bill for extra items added on. They were rectified, When I came to pay the same thing happened to me,I got lots of Oh sorry my mistake,it was put right.Talking to a friend last night the same thing happened to them. Shame they try it on. The food and drink are real value for money great service and in a nice atmosphere.
