This is a great little pub with a terrific restaurant. It was a welcome relief on our travels to get away from the usual chips and peas based meals. There was an extensive, varied and innovative menu with entrees, mains and desserts.Everything sounded amazing so it was hard to choose. It was contemporary cuisine, but still hearty food. Its definitely the best pub food we have had in our 3 weeks of travel. Highly recommend The New Inn.

The Globe Inn - where great food, good ales, local cider and friendly service is our passion. Children, muddy boots, wet dogs and their well behaved owners are always welcome.
My wife and I visited North Devon for the bank holiday weekend and chose to spend all 3 nights here. Jimi and Sam were fantastic hosts and nothing was too much trouble. They recommend things to see and do and made us feel very welcome throughout our stay. The room was spotless and we loved the decor. The bed was large and very comfortable and the big rainfall shower was superb. Breakfast was made to order by Sam and was stunning. I could tell the food was fresh and locally sourced. My wife is a vegetarian and was delighted with the variety and quality of vegetarian options. We ate dinner here twice and both times we were blown away by the quality of the food, particularly considering how well priced the menu is. We tried the burger, steak, veggie chilli nachos and pulled pork, all of which were excellent quality and well cooked. My wife has family in North Devon who joined us at the Globe for dinner on Sunday and loved it. I think they may become Sunday regulars. The pub itself is what I would call a proper pub. The locals are friendly and up for a chat and Jimi's knowledge of beer is very impressive. They had a range of craft beers so I told him the kind of beer I liked and he recommended a few which all went down well (probably too well). The gin and rum selection was also very enjoyable. My pregnant wife was also impressed with the range of non-alcoholic beers and fizz. The music in this place is a other big positive for me. Jimi and Sam are clearly music lovers and have an awesome selection of vinyl. We enjoyed Bowie, Led Zep, The Hold Steady and Mansun. On our last night we took part in the pub quiz. The atmosphere was buzzing and we enjoyed the banter with the locals. The location was perfect for us too as we were able to get to Exmoor, Bude, Westwood Ho! and Dartmoor over the weekend. It's fair to stay we loved everything about our stay here and will certainly be back when we next visit Devon.

We visited on a Saturday night without booking and were pleased that there was a table available. There are separate restaurant, bar and outside seating areas and it looks like the pub has been refurbished very recently. The menu is varied: pizzas, steaks, salads, fish, pub grub meals - something to suit everyone. The food is very well presented and we were both defeated by our pizzas. Very generous toppings and reasonably priced at about £10 each. The black pudding pizza is unusual and delicious! To sum up, nice ambience in a country pub location, polite and attentive staff, fabulous food and well priced. Cannot be faulted and we would definitely visit again.

We took our kids for tea here whilst camping in High Bickington recently. Definitely had eyes bigger than our tummies when ordering an extra chips. They had run out of the kids burger which meant ordering of the adult menu, which was a shame and a bit pricey with 3 kids but the food was great. The seafood lasagne was delicious if a little too creamy for my taste and the kids enjoyed their meals, plus we were able to take the leftover chips home (I know! Leftover chips?!) so that was a bonus!

Had Sunday lunch at The New Inn and was very impressed with the quality of food, the standard of service and friendly welcome. A very comprehensive menu with some veggie options, we had the roast beef which was delicious. In my view one of the best pubs for Sunday lunch in the district. The pub is welcoming of dogs which is important to us when we eat out.

We've just got back from three nights here. And what a fantastic stay it was. Our room was in the lodge which is just across the courtyard from the main building. The bed was huge and comfortable and the bathroom had a roll top bath, over-bath shower, illuminated mirror and ample supply of clean towels and toiletries. There's even a little decanter of port left out each day on the bedside table. I'm not a great breakfast eater but my partner had the 'full English' which he said was delicious, and it looked it too. We only ate in on one evening as we like to try various local establishments. My Chicken Supreme was delicious as was the cheeseboard and I would have no hesitation in recommending the Rising Sun for both food and accommodation. If you have a dog as we do, they are also happily accommodated.
