Warm welcome and great food

Reviewed By Briony J

We were in the area for a family event and needed dinner. Our cousin, who is a regular, suggested the portsmouth arms. We're a slightly rowdy bunch, and were a little worried we wouldn't be welcome as tourists in a local village pub. Four of us went along and were given a warm greeting from the landlord. He honestly looked delighted to see us. Service was prompt. Another of our group turned up and was directed to our table without hesitation. The food was delicious and reasonably priced, as were drinks. I don't get down this way often, but I'd definitely go again!

Perfect!! THIS is how to run a B&B. I have yet to discover a better place on planet earth to stay. Just make that call, book it and go. An amazing home, the perfect hosts, fantastic food, (they managed, without fuss to cater for my Vegan mate), immaculate and with the bonus of some lovely, attentive labs!!

Whist this B&B is set in the Devon countryside it is ideally situated for the North Deon coast and the beaches from Westward Ho to Saunton Sands to Croyde. It is within an easy drive of a number of pubs serving good quality. The gem of this B&B are the hosts for whom nothing is to much trouble and are happy to advice on eateries and attractions. The property itself is set down a narrow country lane and offers an outside seating area in a sizeable fully enclosed garden Dogs are welcome and the owners have two dogs

Fabulous

This is the second time we have stayed at Umberleigh farm after stumbling upon it last minute. The hosts are responsive, friendly and super thoughtful. We rented both cottages for our family and they provided books and toys for the kids, always remembering their names. The cottages have everything you need and more, and their attention to the small details are second to none. Everything is thought of to make your stay wonderful. The park is great for the kids and the surrounding area peaceful. I can't recommend this enough. Close to beaches, zoos, theme parks and big towns. The cream teas in arrival also don't hurt ?
