United Kingdom Food Guide: 10 Bar food Must-Eat Restaurants & Street Food Stalls in Swansea

December 8, 2019 Velvet Mowry

Reviews on Bar food in Swansea, United Kingdom. Birthplace of poet Dylan Thomas, and the second-largest city in Wales, resilient Swansea offers a slew of leafy parks and some impressive cultural centers, including the new National Waterfront Museum and the renowned Dylan Thomas Centre. Rebuilt after WWII, the modern city of 230,000 has a charming outlook over Swansea Bay and the picturesque, unspoiled 16-mile-long Gower Peninsula, home to rich wildlife, prehistoric standing stones, dramatic cliffs and lovely beaches.

I took my son here as I'd read excellent reviews about it as well as recommendations from friends. I'm going to be honest I was a little dissapointed we opted for the two pinbone steaks and a bottle of wine for £22.50 . The meal was ok the steaks were cooked they way we like them and served with fries even though the lady who worked behind the bar couldn't really tell what it came with so we ordered minted vegetables but it does come with chips and onion rings !!! The wine was really good Merlot so you can't go wrong there but to be honest we both came out of there saying it was an ok meal . It's a quirky small bistro and pleasant vibe to the place but just a bit disappointed that we didn't get the wow factor that everyone has put on trip advisor.

Family Sunday lunch, four adults two children. Drinks and food order taken together, two plates of food arrived within minutes, drinks four or five minutes later, then the rest of the food order. I ordered lamb Sunday dinner, the other adults had beef wich they enjoyed, my lamb was bits and pieces of lamb rolled together and sliced. I could not recognise one slice of lamb. On paying I was asked if everything was ok, I replied by saying that I was dissapointed that the lamb was a meat roll to be met with "Oh". Paid the bill and left. Not again though.

Regularly visit the steak house, my daughters call it the knife and fork because of the logo for Sunday lunch. Roast beef is actually medallions of fillet steak so you can have them cooked to your preference, separate vegetables so can serve yourself. My eldest daughter thinks the swede is to die for we always ask for seconds. Excellent value and friendly staff. If going late on Sunday phone to reserve you roast dinner as they run out.

Having a overnight stay due to being in the area on business, we came across this little bar which was very busy and liked looked like the look of menu too. There were limited options of eateries in the immediate area and this looked the best option. We found a spare table (another 2 were available nearby), and then went to the bar to order food and drink. Whilst we were waiting to be served by the bar staff, a man /waiter came over to us and very abruptly told us we cannot order food as they are fully booked and they will not serve us food. I pointed out that we had found an unreserved table, but again he told us they would not serving us food, he then rushed away, leaving us standing at the bar. There were no apologies or alternative suggestions of where we could try. We collected our personal items from the table and left immediately.Helen - I am so sorry to hear of your experience and apologise wholeheartedly. We operate a small kitchen and all our food is freshly prepared. hence we are fairly limited on how many tables we can serve. That said we pride ourselves on our service and it would appear from your comments that we did not take enough time to explain the situation, or offer an alternative suggestions, On a more positive note, our feedback on our food is excellent, and what I would suggest is if you are in the area again please give me a call and we will certainly show you how good our food is! Regards Martyn

After reading the reviews for Sunday Lunch we thought we’d give it a go. Sorry but I really wasn’t impressed! Some people must be easily pleased! All of the veg was frozen ! Plus there was only 4 veg plus roast parsnips! (Peas, carrots, cubes of swede and cabbage). Yorkshire puds were also frozen. The price of £9.95 was expensive for what it was. £10.95 for hubby who chose the lamb. I’d like to have seen a tureen of cauliflower cheese added for that price. Would we return? Unfortunately not for Sunday lunch but we’ve eaten here before during the week and the bar menu is much better.

Went to Diabalo SA1 for fab Sunday lunch while in Swansea. Nice little restaurant in great location by the sail bridge. Everything is fresh, the chef is really talented and her focus is on quality food.We all choose the Sunday Roast. Food was truly excellent with delicious Welsh roast beef, Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes, and a selection of vegetables. Everything was freshly cooked and the cauliflower and broccoli cheese sauce was wonderful. For Dessert we had either the apple tart or pavlova with raspberries and blackcurrants.I have never written a restaurant review before but the quality of the food pursuaded me to share.
