We ate upstairs and had 7 dishes and a lovely bottle of Sauvignon Blanc for £46.50 - amazing value. The food was excellent and I highly recommend both the king prawns and the calamari dishes as well as the delicious fried potato. The service couldn't be faulted it was both efficient and friendly. If you don't want to eat just pop in for a drink (they have a good selection of gins!).

Rooms are comfortable, clean, warm with nice amenities like local sweets, fresh fruit, good range of teas and coffees, lots of toiletries etc. Breakfast choices are very good and varied, menu is excellent with a good choice of specials, special diets are catered for also. being a wine drinker the choice is excellent, beer choices seem to be varied not being a beer drinker I can't comment.

Good varied menu and special offer on certain 2/3 courses. This a pub that does food well and most people were eating.Halloumi starter (with salad) was excellent as were main courses of cod loin and cheese & onion pie and the butterscotch parfait dessert. Staff friendly and attentive. We will return.

Tap water: we got a jug for the table and got loads of ice! Everything else: between the four of us we got 3 burgers and 1 fish and chips. The burgers are very generous in portion and the fish and chips come with a generous portion of mushy peas... although the tartar sauce wasn’t great (very vinegary!). Overall, it was a standard pub meal - exactly what you’d expect.

We loved it. Went there for a weekend and took the train to Chinley. After that a 10 minutes walk to the hotel. Friendly and efficient staff. Make sure to book a quiet room. Ask for walks from the inn; they have maps for easy to quite strengthening walks. Have your food in the restaurant. Good choice of food and wine by the glass. Breakfast is a buffet where pre ordered hot breakfast can be added. Thank you for your visit, we are pleased you enjoyed your staff. Our breakfast is a continental buffet with hot items being cooked to order by our breakfast chef, at no extra charge.

The Lamb Inn

A country pub in the Peak District serving hearty meals with real ales, continental lagers and great wines in a setting bestowing a 18th century inn now with en-suite bedrooms.

The Lamb Inn lies on one of possible routes between Derby and the north. Our confidence in the place is such that we like to build into our trip a meal there if the time of day suits us. Sometimes it does. Sometimes it doesn't. Whenever we do call in, it always pleases. The standard menu is broad and interesting, the prices reasonable, the quality of the cooking first class. And there is home made bread too. It is also comparatively peaceful, friendly, welcoming and relaxing: just the place to have a break under modern motoring conditions. I always come away pleased, and my most recent visit was like that too.

We stopped here for a meal last Saturday night, my wife - who is gluten intolerant, was very well catered for - although the Hotel didn't have a GF menu as such, the waitress went to the kitchen and came back with a list of the food options possible for my wife - having discussed with the chef. If only more restaurants could do this? When the food came it was superb, and we also enjoyed the very lively atmosphere in the Hotel.Large car park to the front.

We regularly visit here as a family for food as it is well priced, reliably tasty and the portions satisfy my husband's larger appetite. The service is always friendly and the surroundings are nice with beautiful views from the terrace. My only suggestion - make good use of some of that fantastic land behind the car park with some good quality children's play equipment and make yourself a family destination! Its so lovely when someone who visits regularly takes the time to write a review, thank you we really appreciate it. We would love to put a play park in the grounds and have looked into it with a few options but with health and safety and insurance costs its really is not viable.
