The hotel is situated in the heart of the village by the River Sett, opposite St Matthew's Church and next to Hayfield cricket pitch. This impressive Grade II-listed building with its oak-panelled bar and lounge areas and seasonal log fire provides an informal backdrop to a wonderfully relaxed eating and drinking experience. Nice rooms but didn't tell that kitchen is closed so no food

Rooms are nice, beer is nice, parking is nice. But they didn't they that kitchen would be closed for weeks even though reservation said that there would be kitchen. So we didn't get any food. There was only one restaurant in whole town that was open and they had terrible customer service

Lantern Pike Inn

Situated in the Peak District National Park, this delightful Inn dates back to the building of the turnpike from Old Glossop to Buxton in 1792. Traditional pub

Where else to drink after a hike up lantern pike? Not the easiest pub to park at, decent beer garden with great views. Decent pint and a bag of crisps to celebrate our trek. It also has some historical interest if your a coronation Street fan.

Looking at previous reviews I can’t imagine the landlord bothers about what people think!! Food was ok but very very non memorable Staff in the evening were totally not interested I popped in at lunchtime to suss the place out and the young blonde girl was welcoming and friendly .. the two in the evening … yawn . One girl seemed to spend ages on her phone. Ok .. captive market .. walkers will always keep this place busy .. but never going to be somewhere to be really recommended..

Breakfast yummy, service slow, website lacking

Lovely little place… looked up best places for breakfast in Hayfield last night .. this came top and only place to open at 9 …got up early and walked to get here for 9 only to be told they don’t open until 10 … get your website up to date !! People use them nowadays ! Also no indication of what was on the menu outside the shop or on the website …did ask through Tripadvisor for menu but no reply … guessing by lack of comments on reviews that the owners aren’t bothered about reviews ? I was only one ordering full breakfast and only two others in the place , but service was very slow … goodness knows how they cope at busy times in the season ? The waitress was very friendly and you could see she was doing her best .. so not sure if the slowness was due to the kitchen ? The breakfast itself was not cheap but VERY tasty .. they don’t do pork as the owners are Muslim but the alternatives were excellent. Not sure what some of the tastes were but there was something different and it was lovely !! Worth a stop … but if the owners were interested they could make the place even better
