Fabulous! Perfect holiday for enjoying a taste of Tuscany for families with children

Reviewed By lilijoa

Just back from a wonderful week’s stay. Ideal location for combining a family holiday with children and sightseeing around Tuscany. Our 3 year old loved the pool areas - especially the splash pools in the upper area on the hill. Free and regular mini train service around the site - every 20mins from early until late in the evening. We also loved the restaurants and gelateria! Already planning next year’s trip!

Amazing stay

We booked with The Sun (first time). I really enjoyed the holiday. It is so much nicer than all inclusive hotels - you still have benefit of entertaintment, AMAZING pools for children and many attractions, but you arrange your day as it suits you. Beautiful parc, which is clean, with good customer service, well equipped shop and reataurant serving delicious food! They had the best pizza we ate in Italy :) Classic mobile homes are clean. I guess this isnt posh/luxurious standard, so it is a bit different experience for me, but there was everything we needed there and all clean.

Camping Dolce Sole

Not used to camping, this was good!

Reviewed By Jo G

Owners are very nice people (even though one is a Torino fan ;-). Normally, I do not go on camping, but I wanted to give it a try, since we wanted to visit both the Alpi Apuane and Cinque Terre. To visit the cities of Carrara and Massa, as well as the Apuane and Cinque Terre, if you go by car, this is a very good alternative, since it is close to the beach and the mentioned attractions. The "little house" is nice, and facilities are good and toiles/baths clean. There is a good Carrefour nearby, where you can stock up on things you need. The bar makes some really good coffee, and as I said before, the owners are really helpful and extremely sympathetic. There are also some good eating local places (like seafood at Girasole) nearby in terms of walking distances, but else, if you do not want to cook yourself, go to Massa, which is nothing more than a 10 minutes ride and which hosts some seriously good restaurants. Camping Dolce Sole felt me wanting to on camping again, after more than 20 years without going - a very good experience, and a nice place, with good and easy access to Cinque Terre/La Spezia (a very short ride). Definitely good value. If really hot (not necessary in June), bring a portable fan eventually. The place is cozy and my three years old daughter she loved it!

Camping Lacona

The Lacona Camping is located on the southern coast of Elba, at the base of the Capostella promontory just a few kilometres from the port of Portoferraio. Nestled under the shade cast by the eucalyptus trees and the Mediterranean scrub, the Lacona Camping covers a surface of 28,000 sq. m. and is 100 m. from the pebble beach of Margidore and 400 m. from the sandy beach of Lacona. The Lacona beach is a long sandy shore that stretches for more than 1 km. and is characterized by magnificent dunes of fine sand and many tourist services, thanks to which you can enjoy a number of water sports. The beach opens in toward the gulf of the same name, formed by the two verdant peninsulas of Capo Stella and Capo Fonza. Further out, the sand is replaced by a bed of rocks and Poseidonia, ideal for snorkeling and scuba diving. The beautiful beach is well sheltered from the currents, especially to the East and can be easily reached from all sides. On a clear day tou can enjoy the view of the island of Montecristo. Margidore beach is located at the foot of the Capo Stella promontory and is formed mainly by smooth, dark, medium pebbles. It is an area protected from the Stella Gulf and is long and spacious, quiet and never too crowded. The presence of the nearby sandy beach of Lacona makes the stay on this shore even more peaceful. A crane available for towing small and medium boats, which can find shelter and dock in the tiny marina located to the right of the beach. From here you admire the beautiful foreshortening of Capoliveri.

Very quiet camping

Reviewed By Fiore F

It is a lovely and clean campsite. We stayed in the bungalow which we liked a lot. You get all kitchen suppliers, fridge and the cooker. The bungalow is rather small but comfortable enough to enjoy the stay. Lacona Camping is more for families with children or people who look for a quiet place. If you prefer nightlife, this is not a place for you. It would be useful if you had a car to be able to go out for dinners as there are no nice restaurants around.

Welcome to Tuscany!

Reviewed By julie_mcpro

It’s very easy to find this peaceful campsite, just a kilometre or two outside one of Italy’s most visited small towns. We were made very welcome when we arrived and allowed to choose our own pitch amongst the established trees. The site had all the facilities we needed, plus a well-supported restaurant with a well-stocked shopping area. San Gimignano is a stunning town, perched on a nearby hillside with its fourteen towers looming over the other old buildings. The town could be seen from the campsite across the undulating Tuscan countryside. There is a regular local bus service that stops right outside of the campsite, making it an easy and short trip to the gates of the town. One slight criticism of the campsite is the low amperage for the hook-ups … you do have to be careful not to run too many things at the same time.

Absolutely fantastic from the check-in to the check-out! We stayed there for 3 nights and fell in love with this place!!! Silvia and Melissa immediately made us feel at home!!! Such a pleasant and warm welcome. It is truly hard to find so much hospitality. Exceptional customer service. The tent itself was everything we were looking for...we relaxed as soon as we stepped into it. What a beautiful place on earth. Our dog was always welcome anywhere on the vineyard which we appreciated a lot. We also participated in a wine tasting and enjoyed Francesca telling us more about the fantastic wines they produce! Needless to say that our car was loaded with wines from Poggio Rosso. We loved it there and can highly recommend it. Many thanks to the great staff at Poggio Rosso who made our stay so pleasurable xxxl
