The Bohemian

Unique and Wonderful Experience

Reviewed By BeachedRedRaider

The Bohemian offers such a unique Out Islands vacation! Whether you want to enjoy the pools all day or get out and explore the entire island, Stefan, the owner of The Bohemian, helps to facilitate it. It is an impressive property that Stefan largely built himself. Frankly, being able to rent a room here so cheaply is an opportunity; I had been drooling over online photos of this property for years and couldn’t believe my luck when I found it renting by the room! The resort is basically run as a Bed & Breakfast. Each room has its own private entrance and bathroom. The evening meal is served at one sitting, at a large shared table. The meals were always very tasty, and European in style rather than Bahamian. Breakfast was flexible to each guest, and I believe lunch was too but we weren’t there for many lunches. Cooking for yourself at the resort is not really an option, and driving to town for each meal is quite impractical. What Stefan charges for food is very reasonable, and worth every penny. Meal plans were flexible and not something that you have to commit to in advance. Drinks are on the honor system- just put a tally mark on your tab if you take a beverage from the refrigerator or mix a drink. Stefan met us at the airport, which is nice because the house would be difficult to find by yourself the first time. We mentioned to him ahead of time that we were interested in renting a car, and he kindly arranged that for us. We were there for a girls getaway (two females in our 30’s) seeking great beaches and some laid-back island exploration. The Bohemian and San Salvador fit the bill completely. One of the neatest things about the resort was that Stefan’s friends from the island (mostly second home owners) would stop by to visit him or have dinner. They were fun, welcoming and always interesting to talk to. Through these conversations, we learned about several neat things to do/see on the island that otherwise we would not have known about. Stefan has his hands full between cooking nice meals for guests 3x per day, doing maintenance on a large property, and also doing all of the cleaning. (His cleaner left the island when Club Med closed, as many locals had to do.) If you’re going to show up and do the white-glove test, or expect to be waited on, you should look elsewhere… the Out Islands in general probably aren’t for you. All in all, we loved our time at The Bohemian, and I think of it often now that we are back home!

Spanish wells is Martha’s Vineyard

We have Visited a few times now. And if Harbor Island is Nantucket and this is Martha’s Vineyard. Quaint charming picket fences. Ship lap with nautical restaurants overlooking the beautiful boats that come through. With travelers from all over the world in the fisherman shopping for the lobster. Golf cart by the most beautifully taken care of yards and Victorian homes that are so charming with their coastal appeal. And truly one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. A slice of paradise.

While on vacation in Acklins, my son and I had the pleasure of dining at Chester's Highway Inn. The quality of the food was incredible, being further accentuated by the quality of the service. What I especially loved was that the, " Native, Island ambience, " was not lost in order to provide such quality service. I would definitely highly recommend Chester's Highway Inn to everyone.

Hidden Gem

Dawson's Hideaway was a gem! My daughter and I stayed here for a few days while visiting Bahamas for the first time. Diana and Alexis made us feel extremely welcomed upon our arrival. The care and attention we received was just great. Diana even offered us a ride to the beach that we appreciated very very much! Dawson's Hideaway was very clean, located in an amazing location, extremely comfortable with fully equipped kitchen and fresh towels. Diana and Alexis were extremely helpful and kind and available at any time for any questions. I highly recommend staying here and I am sure we will be back in the future. Thank you!

Bajamar Bed N Breakfast

Wonderful bed and breakfast in Freeport, Grand Bahama

Reviewed By Itinerant_Alaskans

Bajamar Bed and Breakfast Freeport, Grand Bahama Island We spent two weeks at this comfortable and very pleasant bed and breakfast. We were warmly greeted on our arrival, as well as each day when we came and went, not only by our hosts, Linda and Hilton, but also by their four-legged (Sport and Brandi) and beaked family members. Among the interesting and colorful tropical birds are several that talk - as well as meow and whistle! Breakfast was freshly prepared each morning and was not only delicious but also varied. It was not a heavy breakfast and so was the perfect start to the day. Our hosts also graciously offered us their kitchen if we wanted to cook meals for ourselves, which was a nice option to occasionally dine in. A refrigerator was also available for our use, which came in handy for leftovers and cold drinks. The house is nicely decorated as well as comfortable and has a lovely sitting area outside. Linda and Hilton are great sources of information about the island and we enjoyed hanging out and chatting with them from time to time. The address is 426 Coral Road. Please note that at this time the maps.me location is not accurate but Google Maps is correct. Linda can be reached for inquiries or reservations on WhatsApp at 242 439 5843.

The Sands Hotel

Don’t waste your time here

Reviewed By travelblogger205

There was at least 2 mis-bookings when we arrived, one of which was ours. The room we booked was occupied, so they put us in another, smaller room on the back of the property for the first night. I overheard another couple complaining about a similar mixup. To make matters worse, they made us check out at 11 the following morning, told us they would put priority on cleaning the room we were being moved to that day. But we couldn’t check back in until 3 that afternoon. We returned at 3, they couldn’t verify the room was clean, so we waited in the lobby for 30 minutes or so. We eventually got to the new room, which had an ocean view; however, the a/c was broken and it never cooled below 78 degrees. Also, it didn’t have a washer and dryer, as we had confirmed previously that our room would have. What a waste of time and money this has been. And a huge inconvenience. There are much nicer resorts here to choose from. So, I’d start there. Several people said this is a “value hotel”.. I agree: you get what you pay for.
