Reviewed By SPF04This was our third stay, previously in 2013 & 2014. We booked over a year in advance. We had arrived in NZ that morning. So we were very grateful to get in the room so early and thank you all very much for making that happen. Love the location. So nice to park the car and be able to walk everywhere. Great having the pool. Having the outdoor covered laundry hanger is awesome. This place give you that nice feeling of "living there" which I wish we could. We took our chairs from the balcony and enjoyed the small outdoor grassy area on the ground floor with some wine and cheese. You can hear the ocean at night with the bedroom window open. It was quiet, relaxing and very enjoyable. We would stay here again and again. Thank you and sorry for the late review.

Reviewed By Rae GThe room was clean and had everything we required and a newspaper delivered to read with our morning coffee. The bed was lovely and comfortable with an electric blanket. Fred was a warm and friendly host and nothing was too much trouble for him. Great wheelchair access too.

Reviewed By Benze69We staying here for 2 nights on our short holiday trip and I will give an honest review of our experience Location: very handy and a short drive to the city, beaches and restaurants Room: very clean and tidy with large bathroom, however we experienced having rat above our bed scratching and making noise all of our first night which make us stay awake most of the night and the hall way have kids running around at 7 in the morning which added to our tiredness. The room have AC that’s works really well and keep us comfortable. We told the reception team about our experience of rat and they are very apologetic and action it on the next morning by going up the ceiling and try their best to eliminate the rats but unfortunately they still there on our second night. It is unfortunate that we experience that but PLEASE DO NOT let our experience stop you from staying here as the room itself isn’t that bad and we talk to other people around us they couldn’t hear the scratch noise as it was just above our room only. If it wasn’t the rats issue I would be more than happy to give this place a 5 stars rating for sure.

Blue Marlin Apartments is situated on Buffalo Beach Road. We have one and two bedroom apartments and studio rooms.Refurbished June 2017 a Beachfront Studio Apartments 1, 2 and 3 have beautiful unobstructed sea views. Most other apartments have some sea views (unless stated otherwise) and our refurbishment programme has updated units 4, 5, 12 and 13 in June 2018 with tiled on-suites and all units have been re-painted.

Disappointing
Reviewed By emmabM485CQWe booked the superior one bedroom apartment for three nights. The location of the ‘resort’ is fantastic with an easy walk along the waterfront into town and the apartment was of a nice size. Unfortunately the great things stopped there. The bed was horrible and the two toppers that had been placed on top before being made did not help the cheap mattress that was rock hard. We went and purchased our own topper to try and help with our nights sleep and sore backs. When we arrived there had been painting done and the room stunk of paint fumes for the first night. The apartment was showing a lot of signs of wear and tear especially the carpets which had bare patches and rusted chair legs outside which didn’t look safe to sit on. Wouldn’t recommend the shower for anyone of a decent height. I would advise that there are many better places to stay in Whitianga within the same price range.

Terrible communication with the owner
Reviewed By I4168PMhollyhNot only is reception no available in reasons hours ( it does say this on the door ) but the after-hours number DOES NOT WORK. The kind girl Chloe who had finished her shift tried to help by providing another number for us to seek help however this was not answered either. The young girl then came to our aid well out of her hours and apologised. No way to run a business if the poor staff are not supported. Chloe made sure we had a comfortable stay best to her abilities.

Reviewed By DebbieR163This place is a retro, motor-in in the Main Street of Whitianga. The operators are helpful and friendly and the place is spotlessly clean. It is old style but has everything you need, good shower, comfortable bed and a kitchen. The location is great, a couple of minutes walk to the ferry and waterfront and shops and cafes on your door step. Very quiet. Highly recommended, great value.

Very convenient, value-for-money accommodation with the personal touch
Reviewed By colinbC2261TUSituated within very easy walking distance of the town centre and with a fabulous view over the nearby beach and Mercury bay, there are few motels in Whitianga that can beat the position of this one. On the minus side furnishings in our apartment were a touch dated, something clearly factored into what was a competitive nightly rate for accommodation that could sleep 3 people with ease, and something we were happy to accept. The USP here however is the wonderful, friendly service by lovely Thelma for whom nothing was too much trouble. Free use of towels and spades for our visit to Hot Water Beach, free use of the washing machine (complete with free powder) and airers, no shortage of advice as to where to go, eat etc. If you want luxurious furnishings, air conditioning and a daily chambermaid service you may wish to go elsewhere and pay 30% more, but you certainly won't find a friendlier welcome!
