Mariebergsskogen is Karlstad City Park. It was a gift to the City of Karlstad in 1896 from Dr Conrad Höök. Visit the farm animals in Lillskogen, the Play Garden and Naturum Värmland. Mariebergsskogen has good food, lovely cafées and great ice cream. And lots of space for swimming and outdoor life - very close to the city centre. Free admission, free parking, open dayily all year round.

This is a nice aria to relax. Much to see. Many animals . Also nice forest to walk inside. If it is a hot day. You can take a bath at the nearby beach.

My family of four Swedish-American teenagers and I had a marvelous time at the Varmlands Museum in Karlstad, Sweden. You have to pay for parking and the signs are all in Swedish, so be sure to ask someone for help if you don't understand. (I learned my lesson from a ticket I got earlier at a hotel!) Out front is a cool park/playground which my teenagers (overgrown kids) enjoyed immensely. The playgrounds in Sweden are plentiful with sturdy equipment which is interesting to play on. I think my teens enjoyed the play area as much as the museum! The price for the museum is quite reasonable. I believe all of my children were free as students and I only paid for myself. Just past the desk is a delightful gift shop. The prices are pretty comparable to museum prices everywhere, not necessarily cheap. But it was stocked with cool items. I would have bought more, but I was traveling light and did not have room in my suitcase! Opposite the gift shop is the café. They have a buffet (or would it be a smorgasboard?) We loved being able to sample all of the different Swedish food! The berry punch was delicious and we enjoyed drinking it all over Sweden! Unfortunately the historical part of the museum was closed for renovations. If I understood correctly, it won't be reopened until 2018. Bummer. But we did enjoy the art part of the museum. One of the exhibits was a Swedish illustrator and the interactive exhibit was fun for the kids! All in all, it was an excellent trip. We will be back so I can share the history part of the museum with my kids when it reopens. Museum staff was super friendly and helpful, by the way! Also, you can walk a few blocks to lots of shopping just down the street from the museum!

This bridge was unknown for me. I have visit Karlstad several times. And discover this bridge at my last visit. Its an old stone bridge. Big and worth to visit.
