I started riding at Rheidol just after the lockdown was lifted after having a two year break from horses and riding. I had previously lost confidence in my ability to ride, and I was a little nervous to get back in the saddle. I was also worried about the atmosphere on the yard-were they nice people? I was a little anxious to get back into the horse world, and I wasn't sure what level of coaching to expect from the instructors. I booked a lesson and on the way to yard I was very nervous. I was delighted to find out that the staff were lovely, and their lessons fantastic- before I started riding at Rheidol I really struggled with my contact and my cantering. In the few months I've been riding there, with their help, I can now hold a good contact and I have learnt the true magic of inside leg to outside hand. I could never have done this if the staff had not been so clear and confident-giving with their teaching. I am still working on my cantering but I am feeling so much more confident about it and my transitions are improving. The horses I have ridden at Rheidol have also been amazing. They are confidence givers, and they step up to fit your level of riding. It has been a pleasure to ride such lovely horses, and it is clear that a lot of time and care has been given to get them ready for clients to ride. The hacking at Rheidol is honestly the best I have ever experienced. Very little time is spent on the roads as there is so much off-road hacking available, and the views are superb. The horses are also very well behaved during the hacks, and from my experience on the horses I've ridden they keep you safe. I wish I had found Rheidol sooner. It's honestly the best riding school I have ridden at in my whole life, and I will be very sad to leave it when I graduate as you don't find riding schools like this very often.
