Reviewed By boazsharonI spent there 1 night, and found clean, tidy and warm hotel. Service at check in and check out was lovely and the receptionist was kind and welcoming. The single room is small, but clean and bed is comfortable. The hotel is on the edge of this village, therefore a car is needed. But, the price was not high (74euros), and sure - worthwhile. I will come back if I am around.

Reviewed By anagP6520XJThe room was small and had uncomfortable pillows to sleep on. The staff were really pleasant and friendly. Dinner service was good and they had some nice food to eat. The bathroom is really tiny. This hotel is really out of the way.

Reviewed By Joshua GThe Hotel Arkadia is situated on floors 2, 3 and 4 of a bizarre atrium style building erected in the late 80s or early 90s, shared with a medical practitioner. A slow and tiny elevator will take you to reception on the 2nd floor which is home to some bizarre and dated decor - cane furniture, faux marble veneer counter tops, retirement village carpet, a bowl of lemon drops. The glass fronted corner building acts as sort of a hothouse. Today the outside temperature was 36 degrees; unseasonably hot - so of course all a weary traveler wishes to do is open the door to his or her room, switch on the air conditioner and relax for ten minutes before heading off to a business meeting or out to explore all Friedrichsdorf has to offer. After no assistance with the bags and another floor up in the elevator, I tap the keycard and open the door to my 3rd floor room. I feel like I am standing in front of a pizza oven... The full summer sun beams through west facing windows which stretch horizontally, wall to wall, with all it’s might. The hotel room is 44 degrees, no word of a lie. Has someone left the air conditioning on ‘heat’ by mistake? No - THERE IS NO AIR CONDITIONING! I call to reception for a fan - NO FANS. I open the windows but not a breath of breeze flows into my ecru painted sauna box, furnished with an oak veneer and navy trim wardrobe and writing desk. I ring reception again, “It’s 44 degrees in my room! Can you move me to another room that isn’t facing a large ball of fire in the sky?” ...the Hotel Arkadia is at 100% occupancy. “What about a fan? Are you SURE there are no more fans?!?” ...there are no more fans. “Is there anything you can do to help?” “...No.” It’s hot. I shower... sweet relief! - until the moisture on my skin dries and is replaced by small beads of sweat. I work at my desk for 45 minutes; my back is drenched and drops of perspiration roll down my temples to my neck and then splash onto the desk. The window is open but the curtains are closed to keep the sun from turning me into a raisin. At 6.37pm I discover there is a switch on the wall to lower the external Venetian blinds. Finally, I can open the curtains, block out the sun and enjoy a small amount of air circulation. Note to the desk clerk (owner?): when I asked if you could do anything to help - notifying me of this switch would be one of the things you could have done to help. It’s getting late; I close my laptop and switch on the TV... not one English speaking channel. I open my laptop once more to search for some entertainment... low battery, and me without a German adapter. I call to reception... they don’t keep adapters. Now if I ran the Hotel Arkadia and didn’t want to splash out €28,000 on air conditioning the entire building for a few unseasonably hot days in summer... I would at the very least pop out and purchase 10 x circular fans for €20 each from the electronics store 7 minutes walk away, and wheel them out whenever a guest was feeling the heat. Hey, why not grab an adapter while you’re there! The Hotel Arkadia is clean. It is not comfortable or relaxing or all together enjoyable.

Ganz toller Gastgeber, der immer erreichbar ist und die Unterkunft bzw. Das Hotel mit viel Liebe zum Details leitet, hegt und pflegt. Das Auberge living können wir in allen Punkten nur weiter empfehlen.

A Great Place to Stay!
Reviewed By rrosenvallMy husband and I have stayed here twice. We have loved it each time. The rooms are clean and well-kept. The neighborhood is quiet, and gives one the feeling of old-time Germany. We enjoyed taking our evening walk around the neighborhood. And the service was very friendly. There is a restaurant associated with this hotel that serves very good food. We were getting a bit weary of German food. But the food served here was really delicious. We had the French Onion Soup, the Onion Schnitzel, the Pork with Mushroom Sauce and Spätzle, but the star was the Salad Plate with a Grilled Chicken Breast. I would willingly try anything on the menu.

Great overnight stay
Reviewed By Blot57Very clearly signposted from main road and lots of free parking. Check in straight forward along with wifi codes. Room looked it had been refurbished recently and was spotless. No air con, but the little fan kept room cool throughout night even though daily temperatures were 28 °. Beds comfortable, shower lots of pressure and a shower door that didn't leak. Breakfast had lots of choice. Biggest asset they have is the staff. Well done guys!
