In Yunnan is hard to find a good coffee in the morning and I'm an addict-:). N's kitchen has great english breakfast, capuccino and home baked whole wheat bread. What else do you need? We all very delighted to hear that you enjoyed our breakfast and our home made bread.We do very much appreciate your recommendation and hope you have a nice trip in China.

Nice little bar with a good selection of beers and tasty food. The Canadian-Chinese owners are very helpfull. Sebiâs nano brewery was not open yet at the time of our visit so we definitely should come back!

Without a doubt this place has the best live music in town, there are always talented musicians from different nationalities on stage, there is a great variety of international beers and wines on the menu, and the cocktails are also quite good, it is also a great place hub knob as this is where the hip crowd hangs out, come early tough because due to old town regulations music has to stop at 11:00 pm.

I read every review of Papillon Rouge on Trip Advisor before deciding on a restaurant to spend an evening here and based on the feedback was really looking forward to having a nice dinner here. However, my experience seemed completely opposite to what other reviewers have found -- not sure if it's because it was just an off-night or maybe my expectations were set too high but I found the experience disappointing. Service was definitely not good but this is not unusual in China, especially in a small tourist town like Lijiang so we just overlooked the fact that we were eating cold bread off of paper napkins instead of plates and had to ask for butter which was cold and hard and given a steak knife to spread it with! As a long term China resident, this actually didn't bother us much -- we just laughed it off. The opening course of mushroom soup was quite good, the highlight of the meal. However, afterwards, things went downhill. The pizza and pasta were not bad, but they were just bland and uninspired. We also ordered a salmon in puff pastry but after a long wait period (I know this dish can take a while to prepare), we were disappointed that the chef forgot to make it. Since it was already past 10pm and the pizza & pasta portions were much larger than we anticipated, we just decided to forget it.I've read other people's rave reviews about the pastry and desserts but after this experience and general service experience, we were not inclined to give it a try, nor were we asked if we wanted any dessert or coffee. We just got the feeling that nobody really cared whether we were there or not. Anyhow, with all of the great reviews from others, I'm guessing that we just caught this restaurant on a bad night but we had a very disappointing experience. Maybe give it a try yourself to see if you have better luck?!?

Its a great place to hang out, meet fellow tourists whilst having decent western food. We visited their branch at Shangrila and were surprised to find this latest outlet at Shuhe where we are staying. Masala Chai in a pot is good, we liked the coconut cake.
