Ala Kul Lake

Reviewed By guide_kyrgyzstan - Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan

I visited the lake at the end of September. I was sure that the weather would be horrible. Fortunately, it was wonderful weather for such month! We started our riding from Altyn-Arashan to Ala-Kul lake. It takes about one day to get there. The last 30 min of our way was on foot. If you don't have time and equipments, better go from Altyn-Arashan to the lake. It was a challenge for me since I went with my sprained ankle. I was so eager to reach the lake even I forgot my pain in my foot. My wish for 2019 was done successfully! It was amazing view of the lake, seemed that it was glad to see us. I know that it will not be the last climb.

Barskoon Gorge

Reviewed By NomadyTravel - Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan

Barskoon is a long valley with multiple attractions, but waterfalls are the first-ones you reach by comfortable dirt road (built and used for gold mine). There are multiple waterfalls at the beginning of the valley, and you may choose which part to visit based on your hiking experience. Hiking paths to waterfalls start at the parking lot, opposite to boulder with sculpture of Yurii Gagarin (soviet cosmonaut, who as others cosmonauts visited Issyk Kul resorts for rehabilitation). Slopes are quite steep and you should be careful when hiking to higher parts of the waterfall. You may visit the waterfalls at any season. They freeze during the winter.

This is a sandstone canyon just off the main road south of Issyk Kyl Lake about 45 minutes east of Bokobaev. It is worth visiting for anyone interested in hiking and has great views. There are trails of different degrees of difficulty for people with different hiking skills. There are no benches. It would be difficult on a rainy day. There is parking available. Worth seeing if you are in the area. The name Skazka means "Fairy Tale Canyon."

Issyk-Kul Kayaking

Come along on a kayaking tour in Przhevalsk Bay of Issyk-Kul Lake! The tour takes us along one of the simplest and safest routes. We offer half-day and full-day tours for a maximum of 12 people. The kayaking location is Przhevalskvillage, which is 15 km far from Karakol city. We use comfortable and stable kayaks which can easily be operated by beginners. The boats provide plenty of space for storing your belongings safely and dryly. For a comfortable and safe journey we provide: - a spray skirt, which is a flexible waterproof cover. Spray skirts prevent water from entering the boat. They also keep the paddler dry from the waist down. - a life vest - an experienced guide with good knowledge of the surroundings. For guests of our city can organize kayaking in winter. In winter there is no wind and we use double kayaks they are more stable, which makes kayaking safer at this time. Issyk-Kul Lake

Reviewed By FTMDave - Adria, Italy

I know the southern side of the lake is wilder, but I travelled from Balykchy to Tamchy on the northern side - the idea being to relax in a smaller place and swim a lot. It's quite something swimming in August in crystal-clear water with snow-covered peaks on both sides of the lake!
