A Cascatinha esta localizada a dois quilometros do Santuario. E formada por quatro quedas d’agua e quatro piscinas naturais. Medindo 40 metro, suas aguas nascem acima das quedas, de onde vem saltando pela encosta e pelas pedras. Por ter facil acesso, e um dos locais mais visitados no Caraca. para chegar, e preciso seguir a direito no estacionamento dos visitantes.

A Igreja Nossa Senhora Mãe dos Homens é a primeira igreja neogótica do Brasil. Foi construída entre 1876 e 1883, no local onde antes existia a Ermida do Irmão Lourenço. Toda desenhada, projetada e edificada por um Padre da Missão, na Serra do Caraça, foi erguida sem mão-de-obra escrava e toda com material regional.

For me the primary reason to visit this sanctuary was the maned wolf, which comes to feed here almost every evening. I booked three nights to be sure to see it, and it did not disappoint. The maned wolf showed up every evening, and in addition a dog of the forest (cachorro do mata) appeared on two evenings, and there was even a tapir waiting in the dark, to approach the food when it would be more quiet. Unfortunately, humans chased away the tapir by putting it full in the spotlights of their cameras. In the morning one can see birds around the sanctuary. During the day, the best option is to hike along some of the trails, usually to some cachoeiras (waterfalls) or mirantes. To walk to the peaks one needs to book a guide, which I didn't do. The situation of the sanctuary in the middle of the nature, in the middle of a valley, gives an immense sense of peace and untouched nature. When you don't feel like walking, you can visit the (pretty small) museum, the catacombs, or just drink a coconut in the bar at the entrance. You could spend a week here without getting bored.

O Centro Histórico de Catas Altas surgiu nos primeiros anos do século XVIII em razão da corrida pelo ouro. O tombamento estadual do Centro Histórico ocorreu em 1989. O Centro Histórico, típico do período colonial, incluí além do casario, a igreja Matriz Nossa Senhora da Conceição, a Capela de Nossa Senhora do Rosário, a Capela de Santa Quitéria ou De Nossa Senhora do Carmo e a Capela do Bonfim.
