Sometimes you do find perfection

Reviewed By narvelluk

I have never been a fan of glitzy properties self consciously trying to take care of a guest. And so I was thrilled to find Baglio Oneto where every bit of service seemed old school in the way only the Italians can do it. It comes from an innate pride in their food, country, wine, and why not? The peninsula is blessed, kissed by the sun since ancient times and all the arts flourish. Here my husband and I found that old style property where the dining room is still run by an attentive maitre d', fleets of sub waiters all supporting a wonderful kitchen producing the best food with the fresh ingredients on their doorstep. Every one at Baglio was eager to share their enthusiasm for Sicily with us. Be it the desk clerk who patiently handled my request for the perfect view, the bartender who produced a great drink nightly, the lovely pool girl who eagerly wanted to know our itinerary and the most memorable: the waiter who seeing me slightly shiver quietly and ever so gently urged his aide to produce a wrap for me. And so a table cloth arrived without my even asking as a shawl against the slight night chill of an early May evening. That is real professionalism and classy training. So yes, Baglio Oneto has it all as far as I am concerned all against the backdrop of a lovely villa and tower. Don't come here looking for bread making classes, yoga, or any other chi chi nouvelle experience. This is Italy standing still, taking a breath and hoping you can settle in, turn off your phone, put away your computer and savour i sapori. Grazie miller per una vacanza bellissima. I can't wait to return and enjoy the glorious views while I take a breath myself.

Baglio Donna Franca

The Wine Resort with a winery was built after the restoration and conversion of a large "baglio" located in the centre of an agricultural establishment that, at one time, belonged to the Florio family. The historic Sicilian dynasty of the Florio family introduced Marsala wine to the entire world, invented the tuna fish industry in Favignana and controlled the largest commercial naval fleet at that time in Italy. The name Donna Franca is a homage to Franca Florio, who was an important and well-known figure of the Florio family.

Just an incredible facility with the finest staff possible. The facility is spotless with gorgeous rooms. Everyone knew us from day one and everyone made sure we had a great experience. They set us up for a wine tour and a beautiful tour of Erice. The facility is quite remote though worth the relaxing experience. Much love to everyone there.

Hygienic standards extremely low

Reviewed By Suzanaxx

The place somehow looks as on the pictures, but once you get there you will get overwhelmed by the terrible smell of sewage, which consequently attracts mosquitos and other bugs. No one warned us when we arrived, so we slept with an open window, to wake up in the middle of the night with more than 20 mosquitos in out room!! Needless to say we could not sleep at all! The staff serving breakfast was polite, they offer quite diverse meals, but the food is not fresh. Very low standards for a 4star hotel!

Out of the way but worth it

Not the easiest location to find but the peace and quiet are wonderful. The staff are very friendly and the food is exceptional. Unluckily the weather wasn’t great but we were in Marsala house hunting so it didn’t matter too much, we opted for a superior room which had a comfortable terrace and a fabulous shower/wet room. As it is a good 15-20 minutes drive to the beach this is not ideal for families but the pool area is well equipped for an afternoon’s sunbathing.
