This pub was rescued from closure by the locals 2 years ago- and that has to be applauded. But it is more like a social club that serves food to be honest. The beer is kept well , if a bit northern club-all those lovely local ales, skinners portleven, sharps atlantic, but available here is john smiths, and tribute , to be fair This is probably due to a tie in with a company though, and not a reflection on the people that run it, who looked after us, and were friendly. Portion were huge, if a bit 'chippy'-gammon good and steak very good -although a bit of fresh veg would not have gone amiss. However, after a day in the Cornish rain, hot food and cold beer was ok.

A lovely pub in an 18th century coach house building. Serving home cooked food every day at very reasonable prices. Sunday lunch every Sunday. Dog friendly and child friendly.

We stopped in for lunch, service was good meals were not exciting but tasty...the cleanliness of the pub and washrooms was questionable.Thank you for your review. We are glad you enjoyed your lunch. We pride ourselves on the cleanliness of our pub and toilets, in fact as the owner I clean it all myself to ensure it is up to my standard!

Called in for a family meal. The food was excellent and initially so was the service, unfortunately we appear to have chosen a games night and as more regulars appeared we were all but forgotten. I would eat there again, but definitely not on a games night.

We happened on this small pub whilst visiting Devon in August. It would be hard to imagine a more British pub. Housed in a turn of the century building near the river, it exemplifies everything good about a pub. Friendly and helpful staff, a huge array of beers, and all the quintessential dishes from fish & chips and cottage pie to yorkshire pudding. If you are in Tavistock you can join the locals here for a pint and some gossip. Great place.

Table of 4 & all had sunday roast beef brisket which include a gluten free. 3 were very good but 1 was over fatty & on the gluten free option they left off the yorkshire & dumpling but nothing in there place but at the same price! That said the beef was very tasty. Wife had chocolate brownie for desert which was very good. Can see why it is a popular eatery.

Jill & Ashley are such a lovely, friendly couple this also shows in the upkeep of the pub and accommodation. The accomedation was really clean and beds were comfortable. They've thought about every fine detail and added some lovely personalble touches from a little mug in bedroom for our daughter, teddys on her bed, toiletries and welcoming messages. We didn't have a small child but the room was fully equipped with a travel cot, bouncer & wipes. The pub is a truly a family friendly they've got a fantastic relationship with the locals. It was nice being able to have a drink whilst our daughter coloured with the locals making conversation.We felt really comfortable, safe and enjoyed evenings having a drink making conversation. The food was lovely and Gill accommodated for our needs, loved the lush fresh breakfast. Definite recommend the Kings Arms, please say hello from the Mistry's when you go.Our daughter wanted a really big thank you for her Easter Egg such a lovely touch. We'll definitely be back xxIt was a pleasure, you have such a lovely family.Hope to see you again soon.

Limited opening hours means that you really need to check beforehand and book to avoid disappointment. Welcoming hosts and attentive staff. Excellent local ales on tap and wines to suit most palettes. Perfectly cooked duck breast with a hint of Far East fusion, blackberry and apple - yummy. My sea bass was the best I've ever had - fresh, tasty and succulent. Lemon posset that I was VERY reluctant to share. Good value for quality local produce. This out of the way treasure is worth seeking out.
