North Hill and Hawks Tor circular walk

A circular walk along prehistoric trade routes in the Lynher valley from the village of North Hill where the granite was quarried to build Westminster Bridge.

My wife and I completed this walk today, during a break in the autumn high wind and heavy rain. There was plenty of evidence of both these forces of nature all around us L. We were treated to bright sunshine and far reaching views across to Dartmoor. Wellies are a must at the moment as the mud is very deep as you approach Hawk’s Tor on the path from the Kilmar Tor side. Beautiful autumn colours. It’s quite a climb up the Lynher valley onto the moor (we completed it clockwise) Well worth the effort.

Took 29 lady golfers from different clubs in Cornwall and Devon. From the coffee and bacon roll on arrival followed with an excellent carvery after a lovely game of golf the whole day was perfect. John and his assistant in the pro shop was very welcoming and professional as were the staff in the clubhouse. The golf course was extremely well kept and a joy to play in the sunshine. We will definitely be back again.

We were looking for somewhere at short notice where we could stay over night, play a couple of rounds of golf. We had driven past this Golf Hotel several times and decided to give them a call. The reception and booking staff were really helpful and within a few minutes everything had been booked. On arrival we were welcomed by the staff. Given information on what was where and how to get the best out of our break. We played our 1st round of golf that afternoon. The course was stunning and in very good condition. From the Tees to the greens the course was one of the best we had played in years. After we had finished our round of golf we checked into our room to freshen up for dinner. The room was superb. A huge TV hung on the wall, What could only be described as a team size walk in shower in the en-suite. The Bed was the best bed ive been in for ever. The bed was so huge i could stretch as much as i liked without kicking my wife out the other side. We cleaned up and went down to dinner. there were many things on the menu. it was hard to choose. The restaurant staff couldn't have been more helpful. The food came out at the right pace. the waiter was professional and looked after our needs. the food was very very good indeed. The next morning we went down to breakfast. we were welcomed in the restaurant. The choice was too much. there was pretty much everything on offer. needless to say the English breakfast went down a treat. We played our final game as before. It was a bit windier this time which made the course tricky, yet enjoyable. After we had completed the game we returned to the reception where the receptionist bid us farewell and welcomed us back in the future. So. This was one of the best breaks we'd had in some time. I would highly recommend anyone visit this venue.
