Top 7 Nightlife in Stellenbosch, Western Cape

May 12, 2022 Brain Ambrose

Hiking trails and art galleries abound in Stellenbosch, but it's wine that takes center stage. More than 100 wine cellars, most open to the public, surround the oak-lined South African town, and tasting tours operate daily. Winter brings a four-day festival celebrating the local vintages. The historic town center houses the trading-post style shop Oom Samie se Winkel, the Neo-Gothic Moederkerk church, and museums dedicated to toys, military memorabilia, autos and early life on the Cape.

Having tasted Brampton wine earlier on our trip, we made a beeline here for lunch on our arrival in town. The service is excellent, and very friendly. The food was that good, we came back again for lunch the next day. The highlight was the wine - perfectly chilled sauvignon blanc. And all at astounding value - the best value lunch we had on our whole trip. Majorly recommended!

This is a farm where the wine truly does speak for itself. Made with heart and passion on a boutique estate that prides itself on the art. A small cafe is available with limited trading hours and be sure to visit the website for some accommodation options. This is a yearly stop when we are in The Winelands as it remains my husband’s all time favourite. With good reason - whoever we take always become fans of Camberley wines.

We didn’t book ahead and just turned up. We received a great welcome and tasting with Ramsay. The tasting costs R60 pp, to taste 6 of their 11 wines and is informative. If you’re passing on the way to Stellenbosch, definitely worth a visit.
