Just 25 minutes by car from the Frankfurt International airport, lying in the middle of the Taunus' green hills is the 400 year old HOERHOF Hotel and Restaurant. Located in Idstein, the HOERHOF shares the town's famous architecture design.

Reviewed By KasoViajeroThe hotel is located at the end of a residential street with speed restrictions (walking speed only), at the start of the pedestrian zone of the historic city centre – convenient for exploring the latter, and wonderfully quiet at night (except when it rains – old buildings weren’t made for that…). The hotel sits within an ensemble of beautifully restored historic buildings (albeit only on the outside); it offers a private parking lot just next door, with direct access to the courtyard. The reception left much to be desired (closed when arriving at 9 pm, although advised of late arrival; reservation in the name of the colleague who reserved for me, although she had written to correct that; problems with using the company credit card provided with the reservation…); this might have to do with staying off-season, but was not the case with other hotels in the area. The hotel rooms are in a different building from reception, crossing an uncovered courtyard (inconvenient when it rains); they have no elevator. The rooms have a reasonable size; mine had a level change / step between entrance / bathroom and bed, so not apt for disabled users. The interior design does not really reflect that it sits in a historic building – it is rather non-descript and not of a high standard, and already worn off in many places (my bedlight was broken off; worn-off steps in the stairs). An exception was the reasonably-sized bathroom, which was apparently renovated more recently (hardly any space to put your toiletries, though). The bed was a bit hard for my taste; doors and walls are not well sound-insulated – you will hear your neighbours (and they you…), windows cannot be fully darkened, as curtains are old and sagging and leave light through – not the best conditions for a peaceful night. The Wifi worked, although not exactly at high speed (even in the middle of the night, with no other users). The restaurant apparently closes ‘at whim’ – despite indicated opening hours until 22 h, it closed at 20 h (thus no opportunity to taste any of the tempting dishes on the photos…). The breakfast was minimal (a bread roll, a croissant, some jam, some charcuterie).

Reviewed By Sonnie2403My mother and I stayed for one night in an apartment in Haus 3, Grunerstrasse 31. The apartment has two good sized bedrooms, a basic kitchen with dining table. A small bathroom with a nice hot shower. There is no sofa or chair. Haus 3 is in a quiet street, ten minutes walk from downtown. The distance to the breakfastlocation from the hotel is not on walkingdistance. The apartment is perfect for an overnightstay whisky travelling or if working in the area. For a holiday or romantic weekend I won’t recommend it. We payed 99 euro for one night, good value.

Reviewed By Willem BDue to a brake down of our car, we ended up for a night in this hotel. We had a nice room with a large bed and more space than many (more luxurious) hotels can offer. 89 euro is a nice price for such a room including a simple but fulfilling breakfast. Breakfast was served due to Corona (choices to be made at the buffet and brought to you by the very friendly servant). The lack of a restaurant is no problem, since there are many restaurants nearby. There was even a Thai restaurant right beneath our room, but it was closed on Monday. The old village with a lot of character is within walking distance and made us decide to make Idstein a destiny for future travels. We would like to stay in the same hotel as well, but would ask for a room that is not situated directly on the busy main road. On a warm day you cannot open the windows if you want to sleep without the noise of passing traffic. Our room was close to the elevator and every movement of that device reached us loud and clear as well.

Our Hotel & Restaurant is located at the beginning of the pedestrain area of Idstein which is run by our Family since 1987. All non-Smoking rooms 7 Double- aund 3 single are equipped with shower/WC, hairdryer, TV and WIFI. On the groundfloor there is a China Restaurant with different areas eg. wintergarden, main Restaurant and also rooms for Meetings and celebrities up to 25 Person. At Weekends we offer a all-you-can eat buffet with a wide range of Chinese Food, additionally there are many delicious Cocktails on the menu waiting for you! We look Forward to have you as our guest and hope you enjo your stay with us. We are always available for any queries or rcommendations. Family Ten

Reviewed By eurobob12On a very wet busy drive at rush hour from Frankfurt Airport on our way by car back to UK. We just drove into the Town of Idstein, not knowing anything about it. This hotel looked different because of the Chinese restaurant as the entrance, not the sort of first impression one looks for. I was shown a room (Number 1) no worn old carpets or peeling paint, but a bright room absolutely clean. Good comfortable beds with very clean sheets and duvets. Surprise in the tiny bathroom was the pristine bright finish, no mould or black spots. Good hot water. In fact I wish some chain hotels were as clean as this. Just had to overcome the typical Chinese chairs and wall hangings but it gave the room character. All this and breakfast for 70.00 Euros. Just could not be beaten. We were impressed with the courtesy, welcome and ease the family showed us. As to dinner, superb was the only description of our 3 course chinese dinner, with excellent wine. If this was my local I think we would be eating there at least once a week. The family spoke good english and we would like to compliment them for their hospitality As to breakfast, simple but just fine, with a couple of boiled eggs with good coffee rolls and pastry. Our thanks to this hotel and restaurant for being there for us after such a dreadful drive from Frankfurt Airport. Our drive back to the UK next day was just fine, but we ignored the sat nav and drove back via Metz and Reims, less traffic and very easy. Not quite like the traffic ridden last drive via Koln Aachen and Brussels. Just trying to think when we could revisit. Highly recommended

Reviewed By Toine PBestaat uit Haus zur Sonne 1 en 2. Overnacht in 1. Kost weinig, maar het geheel mis er ook naar. Ja, alles is er. Kamer is klein, badkamer idem. Gordijnen zijn fake. Dus rolluik neer laten. Ligt asn drukke weg. In Idstein zijn, in het centrum meerdere betere hotels te vinden, maar voor een overnachting is het oké. Ontbijt is van voldoende kwaliteit.

Reviewed By docsteffen2017We had to book a table (2nd time, first we couldn’t get one because of too many guests who enjoy this restaurant and Hotel next to the highway A3). Due to the high number off guests it took a while until we were served drinks. Food even takes longer (don’t be in a hurry!). The the range and quality is outstanding. Many local dishes and especially the meat (Schnitzel and Rumpsteak) is soft and tender, the fries absolutely fresh and the salad excellent. I can very much recommend this restaurant and the service is very friendly
