Nice place on a rainy day to do a little shopping, take the kids to the sea life centre and get a bite to eat afterwards. Free parking is good as well!

River Clyde

Reviewed By jonbvs - Chester, United Kingdom

When in Glasgow you have to take a stroll by the Clyde. It's face has changed unbelievably since it was once the centre of shipbuilding, but its vestiges of past glories remain up and down the river bank. We strolled down from the city centre (Argyll Street) to the Riverside Museum and it was pleasantly engaging and utterly absorbing. Be careful though - it is a cycle path and cyclists are not always mindful or polite! You can pop in and pick up a large size, large scale map from the City Chambers offices in George Square to guide you where you need to go. Somehow, the Clyde is not anywhere near as big as you probably imagine it should be. But they've worked hard on it and it provides an excellent walk with several bridges that offer superb views and excellent photo opportunities. You can easily imagine how it must have once been with its industrial hustle and bustle. Now it is a slow, steady, tranquil heartbeat of a once mighty industry. And the sun setting to the west provides the perfect backdrop over the offices of Scottish TV. It's a walk that makes you feel glad to be alive and privileged to enjoy a city redolent in all its splendour, still working hard to be meaningful in ways that matter to its new generations of workers and visitors. The Clyde really is Glasgow's Pride.

During lockdown this place has become my favourite spot to visit. It’s become part of my daily exercise routine. I love seeing the ducklings and cygnets. It’s been glorious in the sunshine during April, May and June.
