(June 1-5) Where to start…. We came to this resort bc it was close to florida, and kind of a last minute booking for our 10 year anniversary. When we arrived there was a mess up with our reservation. Said I only booked for 1 instead of 2. Even tho the default setting on the website is 2 adults. So they charged us an additional $500 for my wife. Even tho we booked the early booking rate. Which should have been only an additional $300, at the current early booking rate at that time. But bc we were at the hotel. And paying at the desk, we had to pay the standard rate…since we’re already there, what am I gonna do? except pay it. The room they put us in was right next to a generator or pool pump, with a constant humming and we can hear it thru the wall. We also couldn’t even stand on the patio, it was too loud. We had our room changed the next day. Also when we arrived we found out that there was a high school student trip at the resort of about 200 18 year olds. Drinking age is 18. You can imagine how this played out. The hotel didn’t give any heads up about this event, if they told us we would have rebooked for different dates. Since the students were there and had there own activities schedule, many of the resort activities were cancelled. The pool area was completely taken over by the kids. On the only nice day we had there. The rest of our days was bc of a tropical storm that rolled thru. You could also hear kids yelling, puking and fighting in all hours of the night. The night of our anniversary we were awoken at 2am to a fight outside our door, and security attempting to stop it. It was also quite nice to walk around the resort and see kids puking in random bushes. The kids left on our 2nd full day there right before the storm came in. That’s also when our tv in the room stopped working. Which is nice when your stuck in the room with a storm outside. We called several times over the course of 2 days but couldn’t get anyone to fix it or replace it. We brought our wedding album with us and some games in case we were stuck inside. But still, unacceptable to not have someone fix something in your room or change rooms again! Now the best for last. During the storm water was flooding our room thru the sliding glass door, and we were on the second floor. The water didn’t reach that high. It was the heavy rain coming thru the doors tracks and other areas. We had to use several towels to soak it up, ring them out and soak up some more. This was not my idea of a relaxing vacation. I understand weather happens, but I shouldn’t have to bail the water out of a room at a resort I booked. We called the front desk, they sent more towels, but they had limited towels. And we asked if there was another room available they said they would call back, never did. Didn’t matter anyway bc apparently all the rooms leak from the sliders during a heavy rain storm. Came to this conclusion after talking to other guests and looking in rooms that had doors open for cleaning. You would think they would offer some type of refund for this huge inconvenience but instead they would rather I write this awful review. The only good thing was the entertainment staff and the food staff was nice. But it appeared management is just not accommodating or helpful. The one show we saw was good! We did enjoy paddle boarding on our first day, and archery was fun. They also had bingo and trivia on our last night bc the show was cancelled for the leaking/flooded stage area. Also when we arrived the guy at the front desk said we could eat at the specialty restaurants each night. But the next day when we went to book we could only eat at one for our 4 nights there. That was not specified anywhere in our reservation, or it’s in very fine print somewhere. Either way we had to eat at the buffet most of the time. Which is ok. I’ve had better at other all inclusive resorts. The one specialty restaurant was really good tho! In conclusion, this place was a constant kick in the nuts. Not accommodating or understanding at all.

Best Resort in the Bahamas!

Reviewed By Marcia Y

Lighthouse Pointe at Grand Lucayan Resort is an amazing property. It is beautiful and extremely well kept. It is a fantastic place to visit, and we highly recommend this resort! The atmosphere was very relaxing and safe. The entire staff is one of the kindest staff you would ever encounter. Each staff member at the hotel, from the entrance of the hotel, bell service, front desk, housekeeping, concierge, and all the different restaurants, was extremely polite, attentive, and respectful. We quickly got to know the staff and felt like we have known each other for years. All the staff members went above and beyond the extra mile, to fulfill any request we had. The beach was magnificent, with the softest and silkiest sand you ever stepped on. The views were spectacular, and the water was crystal clear-blue. The views from our oceanfront suite were breathtaking. The food at the restaurants in the resort was incredibly delicious, too. We loved every second vacationing at this gorgeous resort! We stayed for 6 nights. From the moment you drive up at the resort there is the friendliest female hotel staff waiting to greet you and welcome you to the resort. Unfortunately, we don’t recall her name, but she always had positive things to say each time we entered and left the resort. In our opinion, having someone, so sweet and kind, welcoming guests back and wishing them well every time you leave the resort, just goes to show the level of excellent customer service and care this resort has for all their guests. Upon entering the hotel lobby, we were immediately greeted by Garreth. We never met him before, but he had a trusting, confident, and friendly personality, that made us feel we have known him for years! He took care of our luggage and was very instrumental in helping us have the best experience and stay at the resort. I hope the resort managers notice what a valuable employee Garreth is and appreciate his natural gifts in excellent leadership and great people skills. Garreth exceptional eye for attention and detail for the guests and hotel helped to make our stay memorable beyond our expectations. The pool and beach service were impeccable. At the pool bar, we met Denis, and Rashard. They were so joyful and attentive in giving us fantastic customer service. They took excellent care of us daily with delicious drinks and food. Also, there was the most enthusiastic and entertaining pool DJ, Barry, who made the atmosphere more fun and livelier. We enjoyed listening to his music, watching him teach people to dance, and laughing at his jokes. We also met the friendliest security guard. Everyone working at the pool and beach areas went above and beyond, every day. They are shining examples of what terrific customer service is all about. Inside the lobby of the hotel was one of the restaurants. Ms. Raynelle H. was always so positively helpful and pleasant at the restaurant, which made us feel very comfortable. The housekeeping staff could not do enough to make us enjoy our stay. Travis, Florence, and Alfred were each phenomenal in different ways to always help us with a smile and kind words. This was an example of great customer service from the housekeeping department. We also wanted to specifically mention a few other key staff members that greatly contributed to our amazing experience. First, there was Shanika King. Shanika works as the concierge in the lobby. Shanika was the one who initially instilled the confidence that this was the right hotel for us, with our many questions regarding COVID. Before we even booked, we called and spoke to Shanika to find out some information on the hotel. She was so friendly and so reassuring, and she went above and beyond in providing us with information, emailing us with different options, and following up with us. When we got to the resort and met her in person, she continued to display those qualities throughout our entire stay. She was so instrumental in our decision to stay at this resort, and we cannot thank her enough! Miss King is a valuable asset to the resort and a shining gem to the all the guests she encounters. Prior to arriving at the resort, we also had the privilege of speaking with Ms. Kendra Lewis. She was incredibly helpful in arranging our reservations, accommodating us with our detailed requests, and following through to make sure that when we arrived, everything was ready and exactly how we wanted it. She even helped to arrange an amazing upgrade for us which we didn’t mind paying for, as well as arranging to have a driver available for us throughout our stay. We are sincerely thankful to Kendra for all her assistance. While at the resort, we also had the opportunity to speak quite a bit with one of the managers, Ternesa Smith. Mrs. Smith was another example of why this resort is so high on our list of top resorts! She went well beyond expectations to help us in so many ways. Her attentiveness to always giving excellent service is unforgettable. Mrs. Smith would approach us daily to make suggestions on things that we can do to help us enjoy our stay. We are overly grateful to Ternesa for her generosity and time in taking in our family and making us feel like we were home. This resort is very lucky to have an excellent employee like Mrs. Ternesa on staff. I really do hope they recognize and appreciate all her knowledgeable skills and her exceptional multi-tasking abilities. We also would like to send a very special thank you to Anita Cooper, who personally made sure that everything was perfect for us! We had an awesome first time visiting Freeport, Bahamas and this resort! Everything was absolutely perfect and fantastic in every way. We have already recommended this resort to so many of our friends and relatives, and we are even in the process of trying to arrange to travel back there again soon! We totally recommend this resort, and if you travel with a happy and positive attitude, you will definitely experience all that this resort and the staff have to offer, and you will not be disappointed!

WORST EXPERIENCE ON MY LIFE!!!

Reviewed By 7Taz7

At Pelican Bay Hotel, having a reservation does not mean they hold a room for you. My family and I had spent a week on a boat and had our last night in the Bahamas booked at Pelican Bay hotel before flying out the next day. Our reservation was booked months in advance. We arrived earlier than check in and were told our room wasn’t ready. We decided to have lunch and enjoy the pool for a few hours before checking in. At 3pm when it was time to check in we were told they didn’t have a room for us!! We made this reservation 4 months prior. They finally admitted that they didn’t have a room for us, and that it was because they let guests who wanted to extend their stay have our room instead of letting us check in!!!! My family and I were completely shocked. Never in my life has someone not honored a RESERVATION!! The manager had nothing to say except a shoulder shrug and “sorry”!!! After the shock that we literally had no room to check in to, they told us they could drop us off at another property that they said was comparable to theirs. We were shuttled to a property 10 minutes away, that was not a hotel and the manager of the property had no idea why Pelican Bay sent us there!!! It was condominiums that were several miles away from everything, with no restaurants nearby, and KIDS WERE NOT ALLOWED!!!! Once again we were stranded! We had to pay a taxi driver to take us around searching for a last minute room. Taxis are expensive in the Bahamas, so it cost roughly $20 each time we had to go to a new hotel. By the third attempt we finally found a vacancy, but it was the worst hotel we have ever stayed in. The room smelled like an ashtray so we all smelled like cigarette butts getting on our flight the next day. I am still shocked that we had to spend our last night in the Bahamas like this because Pelican Bay would not honor our reservation and then stranded us basically on a island with very few options. I have traveled all over the world and have never experienced such terrible customer service. We were told by several of the other hotels’ front desk staff that we weren’t the only people that Pelican Bay had done this to, so it was not an isolated mistake.

Very nice

The Bell Channel Inn is a very nice place to stay at when on Grand Bahama. Staff was very friendly and I felt they all took good COVID precautions. The rooms are spacious and the ac is very cold. Food and friendliness of staff at the Upstairs on the Bay Restaurant was amazing. I really enjoyed my welcome Bahama Mama drink, the conch fritters, the steak with mac and cheese and the cracked conch. For a 7 night stay in a very central part of the island with great food, clean rooms and friendly staff, I highly recomment the Belll Channel Inn. And go relax by the pool...

Went to take a fishing trip with friends who have stayed at Flamingo in the past . We were just looking for convenience and a room as we knew we would not be spending much time on the property . The Manager was very accommodating and the rooms although not certainly luxurious but clean and simple . We went to the pool and it was very nice . It depends what you are looking for , however , if you want to fish out of Lucaya, I would recommend . I might add the marina is right outside your room so it is very convenient and safe.

Nice beach

Reviewed By 13Hilltop

We stayed at Island Seas overnight when we arrived on Grand Bahama then two nights at the end of our 6 week stay at Taino Beach. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Our reservation was not in their system when we tried to check in the first time. Luckily we had an email confirmation. The pool area is very nice but the hot tub was not in operation. There were very few people on site so lounge chairs were always available. We were disappointed with the take out food from the onsite restaurant. The beds in both units we stayed in were comfortable. Kitchen supplies were seriously lacking. There was maintenance work underway on the beach during our stay in April and there had been a fire in the building on the beach so an area was cordoned off. We would only stay here again for a brief period given the supplies in the units.
