Top 6 International food in Cotonou, Littoral Department, Benin

February 19, 2020 Agatha Simes

Find out what International restaurants to try in Cotonou. Home to many diplomatic services and the largest population in the country, Cotonou is the de facto capital of Benin, although not the official one. Its location at the crossroads between numerous neighboring countries makes it a commercial hub, instrumental in opening trade to the African interior. From Cotonou travelers may depart for tours of the outlying regions. The nearby stilted village of Ganvie is a short day trip from the bustle of Boulevard St. Michel and the Dan Topka market.

Atmosphere is nice and definitely different from all neighbors. While the menu touts bottles, carafes, and glasses of wine, in reality they only want you to buy bottles, and consumption by the glass or the carafe is not accepted. After a nice cocktail, I only wanted one glass of wine with my food, but even the manager said that this was not possible (despite being available on the menu and plenty of bottles around).

Honestly I don't recall that much about the food because we were in a large group, so the service was slow and everything was chaotic. But the location and atmosphere are excellent, so I would definitely recommend it for that at least.
