The only privately run romantic hotel with its own chocolate factory and one of the most beautiful hotel gardens in Saxony is quiet and idyllic on the outskirts of the small town of Meerane in an ensemble of magnificent old mansions nestled in charming hills, forests and heathlands at the foot of the Ore Mountains. The former post office offers a sophisticated combination of traditional warm hospitality and modern comfort. To this day, the state border between Saxony and Thuringia runs through the middle of the hotel. It is not only culinary to the leading houses in the region. From 4/2019 the new spa with the heated outdoor pool on 3 floors offers everything for well-being, beauty and vitality. Charming domicile and meeting place for adventure, holidays or a very special festival and starting point for discovery tours to Weimar, Chemnitz, Leipzig and Dresden, as well as the castles and surrounding area.

Reviewed By MarkusW171The hotel is clean and functional yet basic. My room lacked any charms, the bathroom was in need for a renovation. I was fine staying here for a work event, yet I would not want to spend a vacation in the hotel. Staff was of limited help when asked questions about the train connections. Internet worked very well. There seems to be a pool but I did not check it out. Free parking. 14-minute walk to the train station.

Century Old, Charming Country Hotel
Reviewed By VoodooNiteThis beautiful old hotel is very clean and charming. Although built in the early 1900s, all the rooms have the normal modern amenities of today’s hotels. Rooms are large with high ceilings and tall windows. The only down side, we were there during a hot July and there was no air-conditioning. However, the well-stocked, hot and cold, breakfast buffet was excellent. He outside patio bar was great for having a night-cap before turning in. The staff was very friendly and anxious to help you in any way.

Between industrial zones countrysides with a charming hilly landscape can be found. Visits to the Robert Schumann house in Zwickau, the Karl May house in Hohenstein-Ernstthal are recommendable, but Meerane also offers loving details.

Reviewed By EvaF2EvaIf I was writing this review after first night I would give no more than two points. Such big my disappointment was. My room was booked by company and I didn't have time to read reviews or research. But even it was clearly mentioned it is budget rate it was not that cheap (I paid almost 100 EUR per night) to be suspicious. And then I realise the room doesn't have a real bed. There was just a folding one like in a student room. Too small, to soft, very uncomfortable. I may say my fault, I should have better checked. But then I looked at their website and found out this kind of room is not in their rates list. Which I feel a bit of dirty game with customer. At the other hand I was really satisfied with everything else in the hotel. It was perfectly clean, quiet, staff was professional, friendly and helpful. I loved the building and its interior. So my final rating is much higher with recommendation: carefully check what you are booking in order to avoid disappointment.
