Horrible! Would never stay there again!

Room was small, so small there was only 1 night table on one side of the double bed. It was room 19 . Furniture was run down, needed replacement or at least refinishing. Walls had peeling wallpaper and a very large vertical crack in it. Bathroom did have a new toilet, but the size of the room was so small, that it was extremely close to the wall. Worse part about it, was the sheets on the bed were old, had pilling and to make matters worse looked slept in when we pulled back the blankets. They had a very musty /cupboard smell . We were the only ones staying there that night (March 21,2022). That in itself was a bad sign. They have a no refund policy once it was booked, and that was the only reason we stayed. Would never stay there again even if it was free.

Very clean and comfortable

Reviewed By TerezaRae

I am very fussy with cleanliness and I usually bring my own bed sheets, bedspread, and towels wherever I go, but they were not needed at this lodge (except for beach towels and pillows in the cottage), as everything looked so clean. We stayed 3 nights in cottage #3, then we decided to stay one extra night, so we moved to hotel room #12, as the cottage was already booked. The mattresses in both locations were comfortable and bother showers were great. The cottage had everything needed for cooking. The only minor problem we had was that the freezer was too small (just a bar fridge) and didn't keep the ice frozen. The same type of fridge in the hotel room. The owner (Ferdous) is very friendly and always just a phone call or text message away. We will be back there for sure!

Never again

Service Very slow we were the only customer and it took over an hour to get food. Complaining they're short staffed. Yet we watched them having a break outside. Second time we gave them a shot. New owners are going to have to step up to keep the reputation that the Spectacle Lake Lodge has held for over 20 years

Barry's Bay Golf Resort

Don’t judge it by the outside

Reviewed By Breakaway44

This motel is located on an abandoned golf resort and looks a bit quaint from the outside but the rooms are super clean and comfortable. The property has a lake and you can canoe on it. There is a pedal boat and life jackets for use I believe also. A good choice for us.

Nice place to stay for day-trips to Algonquin Park

The Balmoral Hotel (such a regal name!) is charming hotel in the heart of Barry's Bay Ontario. Pros: - Great pricing (much cheaper than hotels closer to Algonquin Park) - Heritage building (built in in 1890s) - Charming hostess, who was always ready to provide recommendations - TV had Netflix in lieu of antenna/cable - Within walking distance of Barry's Bay main attractions (Zurakowski Park, the old water tower) - Within Easy Driving distance of Algonquin Park East gate (~30 min) - Comfy Bed - Nice 'morning' glory muffins at breakfast Cons: - Not too many restaurant selections in Barry's Bay; Hotel restaurant was closed - Weak Wi-Fi connectivity

Weekend getaway

Reviewed By Mike L

My wife and I spent three nights here and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Linda was a most thoughtful and engaging hostess. The room was spacious with a very comfortable bed and a well furnished deck offering a gorgeous view of the adjacent lake and well treed opposing shoreline. We enjoyed homemade breads, fruits, and other filling breakfast fare each morning. Linda was a delight to talk to and offered a wealth of local knowledge. I would definitely recommend this B&B to anyone planning a trip to Algonquin Park.
