Old, dark, unfriendly and pricey - bad combination...
Reviewed By U3RThis was a two-night stay, one adult, 2 young children. I had been looking for accommodation in Lüneburg. Everything was fully booked there so I picked this via their online booking site. They had three types of rooms in two buildings, and it wasn't obvious to me what I had booked in the end. Booking confirmation was swift. The place was ok easy to find but already the outside view was very unappealing with dusty windows, old curtains and nothing nice at all. My son didn't even want to enter... Once in, it didn't really get any better. The place smelled old and everything looked quite worn out. When ringing the bell a pretty grumpy and not very wordy man arrived and guided us upstairs to our room: a double with a bunk bed. He did offer helping with the luggage, though. All furniture was very dark and ugly, my kids were laughing at the ugliest bathroom they had ever seen: the sink, the toilet, the shower, everything in dark green with a brownish touch. I would have found it hilarious if I hadn't had to stay there for two nights. On the positive side, there were sweets on the pillow and it did seem clean enough. I went downstairs to find the grumpy owner again and ask for the WIFI code. That seemed to bother him, too, but he explained what to do and I went back up. It didn't work, darn. As we had arrived in the late afternoon and being a good distance from Lüneburg, we decided to eat at the restaurant in the hotel. When going downstairs we did not feel welcome at all. Obviously we hadn't made reservations but were shown to a separate, not very nice room. Now being waited on by a younger guy, I asked him about the WIFI. Still it didn't work. And after the third attempt he checked up on it as they hadn't set us up for it. Now, it finally worked, but extremely slow connection and only for two devices, darn again. The food wasn't worthwhile mentioning either. By now, I was really worried about staying two nights but unfortunately there was no alternative. The hotel has a pool. We had trouble finding it but were advised to go to another building across the road and bring our towels from the room. In that building a woman was cleaning the floors when we arrived. She didn't greet us or anything. We had to pull away the cover from the tiny pool. The water was very cold so the children got blue lips quickly. Since there also was a sauna in the building, we wanted to warm up there but darn again, it wasn't heated. The cleaning woman turned up and gave us a very annoyed and angry look because we were wet and dripping on the floor (what else would you expect in a pool house...?) and when asked whether she could turn the sauna on, she said in a very unfriendly tone no, only the manager would do and then we had to go back to the hotel and it would take at least half an hour to heat up, i.e. we would have had to get dressed as we needed to cross the road etc. So what good is a freezing cold pool and a switched off sauna... We slept alright, so the beds were comfortable. Breakfast was ok. Again we had been guided to the separate dull room. We spent all of the next day away from the place, slept there the second night, had breakfast. I just wanted to get out of the place as quickly as possible. My kids too. When I wanted to pay, it was clearly as much of a nuisance as everything else. Why run a hotel when you despise people?! The guest who was paying before me was questioning the amount that he was charged. It didn't match up with the booking he had made online. I didn't overhear all details but the owners were not friendly nor service-minded at all and just insisted on them being right and the guest having done something wrong. Wonderful... At least there was nothing wrong with my bill. No thank you, no enquiry whether we had enjoyed our stay (clearly NOT!). Nothing. My kids were grateful to leave, I was too. And we will never ever return.

Reviewed By Safari68559283089I was impressed by the professionality and kindness of the staff, the hotel is clean and the breakfast has good quality food. Eggs cooked on request of the guest. Good price-quality ratio. If i'm in the area i'll go back to this hotel.

Reviewed By K3366ZKannamWir waren mit zwei Erwachsenen und zwei Kindern dort. Alles sehr schön. Neu renovierte Zimmer. Wir hatten eins mit eigenem Bad, die Kinder hatten ein helles und sauberes Gemeinschaftsbad. Nette Pferde und sehr nette Betreuer. Immer gerne wieder
