Kitchen Coos & Ewes

Guided tours of our farm which feature a short trip in our people carrying trailer to see our Highland Coos. Get amazing pictures to enjoy later and to share with your friends. Hear the story about the social hierarchy in the fold from the people who care for the coos (a herd of Highland coos is called a 'fold'). Discover how the matriarch coo exerts her authority and feel for the coo at the bottom of the heap. Hear the story about how past generations of farmers produced energy, food and fiber in the Luce Valley and how the present generation have become more aware of also caring for the environment. The wind is now also being harvested in the hills; see for yourself how the Luce Valley is ideal for producing clean renewable energy. After the trip in the trailer it's time for tea. Freshly baked farmhouse fare to be eaten at our kitchen table as you reflect on your time on the hill.

Kitchen coos and ewes is a must!! A real authentic experience on a working farm. The walking tour is wonderful! Full of interesting facts and a very knowledgeable tour guide! We walked for an hour or so learning about the origins of the area and how farming has changed over the years! The animals were astounding and it’s not to be missed! Book now!

Visited here today, two family’s 4 adults and 4 children in total. I travelled from Cockermouth and would do it all over again!! It’s worth the travel and we will be going back. It’s amazingly clean and the staff are amazing (there are lots of them) but they are busy keeping everyone happy and the place spotless. All the doors are secure and alarmed so little ones can’t get out of the indoor area. So there is a huge indoor play area (soft play) and a cafe which is reasonably priced and tasty. Also a huge area with ride along tractors and little tike cars. Outside there is a park, huge bouncy castle inflatable, go kart track, mini golf, trampolines, sand area and a huge track for family go karts to go right round the farm park. Plus a water fight area. The water boats are £2 and the electric motorbikes that are on a track outside and inside take £1 coins. Water bombs are 50p but apart from that everything is included in the price. We were there all day and left at 4.30 We will be returning I would rather travel the extra 30 mins from Carlisle and go here instead of Walby.

What an amazing find! We were down in Southerness for a long weekend and thought we would pop into “this wee farm park” for an hour or 2 to pass the time with the kids.....6 hours later and we were the last to leave at closing time! Amazingly spacious, we had no covid worries whatsoever. The animals are adorable and friendly, the indoor barn rope swing brilliant (loved that my 5 year old could play in that section, while my 10 month old could play in the adjoining tots area.....not often they can both be entertained at the same time!). The bouncy pillows were great fun (again the 5 yo was on the larger one, the 10 mo on the smaller). Because of the layout I could let the 5yo play on the big slides while I sat in the sand pit with the 10mo (again I cannot stress how rare it is to keep both my little womb gremlins happy at the same time) the peddle boats were lovely and chilled, but the winner at the end of the day was the train ride! I enjoyed it as much as the kids. The staff could not have been nicer or more helpful, going above and beyond (ie the man running the toboggan slide who dragged the sledge up the hill because my spoiled daughter couldn’t be bothered doing it herself). I can’t believe how affordable it is and how much you get for your money. I never usually post gushing reviews but I’m totally fan girl-ing over Mabie Farm and promised 5yo that I would bring her and friends down for a day trip.....it’s worth the 2 hour drive.

An unexpected waypoint on our ride. Great ice cream, amazing selection of flavors, and so much fun to see kids enjoying the low- tech and very creative outdoor climbing, sliding, swinging apparatus.
