Centro Historico Ron Barcelo

Design inspired by the shape of a barrel, with an interior courtyard. Located in the Ron Barcelo production plant site, where officially aging warehouses are identified with number 50. First of its kind in the country made straight from sugar cane juice. Created for visitors to learn more about ancient and modern procedures used to create an excellent rum. At the Historic Center you can admire Ron Barcelo processes that are carried out daily: aging, blending and packaging.

Cueva de las Maravillas

Reviewed By NYPolarCat - New York City, United States

We were a group of 3 tired adults and 4 children driving from Santo Domingo to Bavaro, and this was a fun and fascinating way to break up the ride. We spent only about 20 min. inside the cave. Our guide was knowledgeable and nice. The taking of photos inside the cave is prohibited, with the exception of the large area at the end, which is full of natural light. The cave is pretty and easy to navigate if you’re able to walk. It is not wheelchair-accessible. It’s quite humid in the cave, so there’s definitely no need to bundle up with a sweater or anything. The area surrounding the entrance to the cave is very lush with all sorts of interesting plants and trees. The ending with all the iguanas was very cool. The bathrooms are very, very nice and clean. There was a large area with tables and chairs, so I suppose you could bring a picnic. There is no restaurant on the premises, just a gift shop with items not specific to the cave. I recommend this if you’re on the way from the capital to Bavaro and need a good 45 minutes to an hour to stretch your legs and refresh.

Juan Dolio Beach

Reviewed By Concetta08062 - Mullica Hill, United States

We stayed on a property with excellent security, making us feel quite safe. Also everyone we met was very welcoming and hospitable. The beaches are well maintained with many healthy palm trees and clean water. Good food choices and shopping close by.
