Neumarkt in der Oberpfalz is the capital of the Neumarkt district in the administrative region of the Upper Palatinate, in Bavaria, Germany. With a population of about 40,000, Neumarkt is the seat of various projects, and acts as the economic and cultural center of the western Upper Palatinate, along with Nürnberg, Ingolstadt, and Regensburg.

This is a beautiful museum with displays that are well laid out. For me, this would be rated as an outstanding exhibit, as I spent half a day here. However, I love antique cars. Others will find this only mildly interesting.
Maybach was a very high-end luxury car with peak production in the 1920s and 1930s. Not that many were built. This museum has the largest collection of remaining Maybach automobiles in the world - which is still not that many (about 20?) but enough to occupy a full morning for me. My understanding is that the museum building occupies part of the actual factory where the Maybachs were built. In addition to cars, there are exhibits of Maybach sales brochures and a display about how the factory developed through time, including some sobering pictures of what the area looked like immediately after World War II.
Other things were also manufactured here - engines, as well as bicycles and motorbikes. Hence there are also displays of bicycles and motorbikes, and some films about the zeppelins which used the motors manufactured here.
If you are very interested in cars, the 9 Euro entrance free will seem reasonable. If you aren't, it will seem a bit steep.
The museum is about a 10 minute walk south of the old town, which is worth exploring and where there are some good hotels.

Great place to take the guests for a quick castle ruin experience. Unlike many ruins, you can park very close to the top, so even the older or disabled visitors can enjoy the adventure. Wonderful photo opportunities and a nice bit of history thrown in.

Ich bin nicht in Neumarkt, sondern in Essen geflogen, aber mit dem selben Anbieter.
Einen Hubschrauber selbst zu fliegen, ist ja ein aussergewöhnliches Event. Berichtet man darüber , wird es von vielen erstmal ungläubig zur Kenntnis genommen wird. Im Vorfeld des Fluges, zusammen mit dem Gutschein, bekamm ich eine DVD zugesandt, auf der die wesentlichen Dinge über die Funktion und Steuerung eines Hubschraubers erklärt wird. Ich fand das sehr hilfreich. Im Briefing vor dem Flug bekommt man diese Dinge dann nochmals erklärt, unterstützt durch technische Modelle. Alles im allem ganz verständlich und kurzweilig.
Der Flug selbst wurde außer das Abheben und zum Start eine kleine Runde über das Vorfeld, zu meinen Freunden, die von dort aus das Geschehen beobachteten, sowie die finale Landung auf einer Transportplatform, vom mir durchgeführt. Das war richtig spannend.
Ich hatte einen Fluggutschein über 45 Min und die Zeit waren wir mindestens in der Luft.
Dabei habe ich eine Runde gedreht von Essen nach Duisburge, über den Rhein ein paar Kurven geflogen, dann weiter nach Oberhausen und den Rhein-Herne-Kanal entlang. Von dort wieder Richtung Süden über Essen und den Baldeney See, anschließend Richtung Düsseldorf und abgedreht zurück nach Essen-Mühlheim.
Tolles Erlebnis, uneingeschänkt empfehlenswert.

Die Sonderausstellung hat uns gut gefallen. Es waren Exponate von sehr bekannten Künstlern (Baselitz, Picasso, Richter), aber auch Arbeiten von Künstlergruppen ausgestellt. Die gesamte Ausstellung war übersichtlich, informativ und interessant. Die Werke von Lothar Fischer sind vielfältig und beeindruckend - und gut präsentiert. Ein Besuch lohnt sich auf jeden Fall.

Wer einen netten Abend und leckeres Essen sucht, das er mit zubereiten kann, der ist hier richtig. Küchenchef Jörg Hailer hat alles sehr charmant im Griff und geht auch auf die kulinarischen Wünsche seiner Gäste ein. Ein gelungener Abend. Wir hatten das Kochstudio für eine Geburtstagsfeier gebucht und den Steakkurs belegt. Alle waren begeistert. Das Ambiente hat Wohnzimmercharakter.
