Enjoyed a pleasant lunch in their cafe/restaurant. My wife had a very tasty crab Sandwich and I had a scone with jam and cream. It was a pity the cream was of the synthetic type but the scone was fresh /and I enjoyed it. The staff seemed a little harassed but it was very popular and busy.
No hesitation in recommending this cafe

White Hart Islay Restaurant

We were told there were only two good places to eat in Port Ellen, so we went to check out both and they were a bit pricey and busy so we walked a little further up the street. We came up to a quiet hotel and bar on the edge of Port Ellen. The food here comes in large portions and is cheaper than some of the other places. They also have a good selection of Islay scotch. We had the nachos and steak pie, and both were good. With few dining options in Port Ellen this place is not to be missed

A little home-spun place with almost no food when we visited for a late lunch. Many better places on the island for very good food!So sorry you had such a bad experience. The Bistro is between ownership right now and the new owners will be in place next week.........:-(

We had only a dinner in this hotel and didn’t sleep here. The restaurant is a nice place to eat. The service was average but not bad. The food was good and the drinks also. Everything is not cheap but not too expensive for what you get. We recommend booking a table in advance. And yes we would come back again.

A business dinner for x9 was most enjoyable in this cosy little restaurant/bistro. Attentive, efficient service with excellent food locally sourced where possible. I plumped for the Mixed Grill which was excellent and followed by a local cheese board all washed down with some local craft lager. Clean plates all round x9. Recommended.
