Gayton Marina

Reviewed By stevemD9497PC - Windsor, United Kingdom

We hired Snow Bunting from ABC for 4 nights from Monday to Friday and travelled the route from Gayton Marina to Braunstone and back. Check in was straight forwards as was the safety briefing and walk through. Disappointed to find no dog life jackets as the literature stated that they would be available to borrow. Would have bought one had we known. The boat was clean and had everything on we needed. Our only complaint was the double bed is tiny (width) and as it’s a settee during the day the cushions are not the comfiest mattress. We found out afterwards there are larger boats with wider beds within the fleet. Thoroughly enjoyed the time together on the boat and we stopped off at Whilton Go Carts on way out which the kids loved and Shires shopping centre on the way back. Having not been on a narrow boat previously we took to the 26 locks like ducks to water and shared locks with others when appropriate. Was impressed with the amount of equipment on board including waterproofs, an umbrella torch and a well equipped kitchen. We were concerned we would be cold but the radiator heating was very good. A surprising good shower too considering. Don’t be surprised to find a bit of damp, condensation and drips from the ceiling however but I guess that’s the nature of things. It did t spoil our time. It was nice not to turn the TV on and play cards and board games as a family during the evening. A lovely pace although plenty to do during the day with the locks and tunnel etc. We would recommend this holiday to anyone, it’s something we shall all remember for a long time to come. Thank you ABC not the cheapest of breaks but well worth it.

Braunston Marina

It’s a great place to just come and walk and forget your worries just watch the boats go by. There a floating cafe just by the bridge would thoroughly recommend it
