Hartbeespoort, informally also known as "Harties", is a small resort town in the North West Province of South Africa, situated on slopes of the Magaliesberg mountain and the banks of the Hartbeespoort Dam. The name of the town means "gateway of the hartbees" (a species of antelope) in Afrikaans. Such a noncommercial, feel good, relaxed vibe. Not an awful lot of drink choice, but the beer was different and delicious. Loved it. And the pizza is amazing!

The Aloe Farm

I had heard about the Aloe Farm and decided to take a drive out to the Magaliesburg last weekend to see it for myself. It is a wonderful nursery - gorgeous aloes all in flower at this time of the year. Also beautiful South African succulents - sold individually and in trays and at competitive prices. We spent nearly an hour enjoying our visit and will definitely be back.
