I was pleasantly surprised with the beef szechuan I received. Inexpensive dinner, nice staff and a good buzz in the restaurant. They tried serve everything in a fancy pot or bowl so the table looked really cool when all our different dishes arrived. Slight negatives were that the table was very sticky, as was the menu, and the toilets definitely need an upgrade.

I was delighted to see the place has reopened after its closure a few years ago. However I was disappointed with not friendly yet professional service. Also I would question the practices of the restaurant as it happens twice that there was man in dirty clothes having a loud argument with a man sitting at the table and then marched in and out of the kitchen. He looked very angry. I have refused to eat there as I deem this as highly inappropriate. I was disappointed as it used to be our favorite spot before the restaurant closed.

Kings Court is in a straight fight with Swans and Jade Garden for Chinese superiority in New Ross, having eaten in all three you can safely say they're all much of a muchness. King's Court is slightly more upmarket than the other two. The restaurant is smart with chinoiserie and lacquered surfaces. We were greeted with complimentary prawn frackers and spring rolls which was a nice touch. Half a duck was tasty and not at all boney or gristly. Mains of chilli fillet beef were a bit too sweet for my palette and the beef with green pepper and black bean sauce were a tad salty however this is just down to personal preference. Two courses, three mains and three beers were 78 euros. Would go again.

Nice food. Lovely waiter. Three courses for â¬15 was very reasonable. Quite possibly the first Chinese restaurant I've ever visited where there were no complimentary prawn crackers. They also don't take card, which was very inconvenient and could have proved very embarrassing had we not found cash in our wallets. Will be my Chinese establishment of choice in New Ross going forward.
