I have called in this cafe several times over the years going to and from Northern Scotland but sadly it has changed hands and has now become very popular with dogs and their owners. Unfortunately I prefer to eat a meal without the smell of wet dogs and their barking and yapping. I accept that dog lovers might love the place but sadly for me and my family there will be no repeat visit. The food and service were adequate.

The soups here are always very tasty and homemade, the choice when we visited was Ham Hock and lentil and leek and potatoe, chose the first and it was very tasty with big pieces of ham in it. The filled rolls are very good as well and filled to bursting with lovely fresh ingredients, got cheese salad and it came with salad garnish as well, lots of cheese and salad was not just boring lettuce and tomatoe only. The cakes also are very good in this cafe but didn't have room for one unfortunately.

We had a lovely sandwich lunch in the Rumblin Tum cafe in the main street of the lovely old town of Moffat. Had we stayed longer we would have returned for dinner. Serves breakfasts, hot meals & light lunches, also wines & beer. Great find - plenty of room, very clean & the staff were really friendly.

Looks a nice shop from outside but the cafe is a let down. Visited just after 2 pm. No soups or baked spuds left but that was fine. Had a panini each at a table with crumbs on it; cutlery cheap and water/food marked. Cutlery taken from an almost empty nasty plastic container than hadn't been washed for a while. Dirty dishes on too many tables. Outside seating area overgrown and a total mess. Staff friendly, one cook visible and one serving. Waitress delivering our food looked at our bill (visible on our table) to see that we had ordered tea, which we had; she then went to make it/get it for us. Staff were elderly as were the customers so felt like a church lunch. Lots of food left on the empty plates; how can a teacake be not nice! The customers looked bored to death and married to each other for so long that conversation was nil; and therefore atmosphere. Don't get me wrong, I don't need kids running about all over the place. Thought at least the food would be good as pensioners like good value but the same meal priced at the poshest hotel on Moffat high street was basically the same as what we paid. Two panini's (grammar?) and pot of tea for two was just over £14. Evening meal for 2, steak each and bottle of wine in local pub costs £29 the same night. Get my meaning? Anyway, panning's tasted nice, albeit with wilted salad and zero coleslaw, but cups of tea were lovely. Wished I could have given a better review as it seems a local company.

The hot beef and onion barm sounded good but sadly wasn’t. The barm had been toasted and was burnt black. I left most of it. Plenty of beef in it, but as the server at the counter shouted out to someone in the back to get the beef out of the freezer, and it arrived very quickly afterwards, I was worried about whether it had been cooked thoroughly. No garnish with it at all, so didn’t look appealing. Won’t be going back!
