Pickle & Smoke offer great German products , homemade and imported and really good prices, the sausages are exceptional as well as the ham that we purchased. The eatery serves the best food in the road, i loved the pulled pork roll and my partner really enjoyed the prego roll.Must visit spot when next you visit Kleinmond

This place reminds me of trips with my mother when I was younger, to what they used to call tea houses back in the day. It's a little trip into nostalgia in a way as this is your good old fashioned tearoom/coffee shop. The owner serves you, the regulars come in on their specific days (some of them everyday), sit and order their regular and catch up on the neighbourhood news. The food is simple but tasty and portion sizes are just right. The owner bakes his own cakes and scones (sweet and savoury) and the food fells like home. There is a daily meal and on the day we were there, it was beef curry or roast lamb. Sunday lunches are apparently very popular and you definitely need to book.I could be wrong but I don't think there was anyone on the menue over R70.00! We had the pancake with chicken mayo filling, which was huge and the chicken may toasted sandwich. Both were delicious! So, take some time out; get to meet some of the people who have lived in this town for years; eat something tasty that won't break the bank and just relax! Here, no one is going to rush you.
We were looking for a coffee stop, for iced coffees in fact. When we went in we asked for iced coffees with ice cream added. The owner does not normally make his in this way, but nothing was too much trouble, and he purchased ice cream while we waited in order to meet our request. He was such a great guy to talk to and knew a lot o about coffee and was very enthusiastic. Also provides an excellent range of juices/smoothies. We spent visit here chatting to him and getting to know his wife and two children. I love experiences like this and I regret not finding it before the end of our holiday here!

With panoramic views of the sea and the mountains from inside the restaurant or outside on the deck, Jack's brings you fine home cooked fare prepared with the freshest of local produce. Whether it is a freshly baked croissant, our hand rolled pasta made w
We have come to know Jack's Cafe extremely well over the last few years and it is one of the first places that we visit on arriving in South Africa for our Winter stay. We don't just visit it once during our stay but several times to enjoy the food and the hospitality offered front of house by Laura who we just love. One thing I must mention is that the drive across to Betty's Bay from Gordon's Bay is one of the great things to do and is an added bonus to the welcome that we always receive in Jack's. It is a spectacular piece of road, one of the best to drive in the world and at the end of it awaits that welcome I mentioned but also some great food prepared by David. Oh and Jack's serves some of the best coffee you will taste in the Western Cape. The latest visit included bacon and egg croissants, healthy omlettes and of course the legendary fruit cake that I have personally become addicted to over the years and for which I am still trying to get the recipe out of Laura and David! My efforts remain singularly unrewarded.Anyway, take my advice, don't miss this drive and don't pass Jack's Cafe without calling in remembering that it is closed on Wednesdays. Tell Laura that Alistair the Cake sent you! Enjoy. As a business person there is a deep personal reward when casual visitors become dear dear friends. It happens for all sorts of reasons and never the same ones, but the connection year after year delights and warms us and we look forward eagerly to the next time friends visit. Alistair (the cake) always brings with him an outlook on life that is infectious, his gorgeous wife Lynn brings glamour and a wicked sense of humour.... I wish they could stay forever but the world is a big place and explore it they do, with gusto..... safe travels dear friends, until the next time in Betty's Bay x
