The municipality comprises the town of Overijse, and the communities of Eizer, Maleizen, Jezus-Eik, Tombeek and Terlanen. On December 31, 2008, Overijse had a total population of 24,410. The total area is 44.43 km² which gives a population density of 549 inhabitants per km². Overijse is surrounded by an extensive woodlands (Zoniënwoud/Forêt de Soignes), with walk- and bicycle paths. The community is regarded as a very attractive area in which to live.

We reserved and ate early, and it filled up quite quickly. Very pleasant service, not intrusive. A wide selection of local specialist beers, and apparently a decent wine selection. My steak (bleu) was decent quality and well sealed. My companion's dish "suggestion" was slightly less successful with the vegetables being slightly overcooked.However the portions were excellent being perfectly adequate as a full meal. The dishes were well presented without being pretentious. We have been to this restaurant/tea room a couple of times recently after having taken a walk around the Genval lake.The service is courteous and friendly. The prices are a bit over the top for what you get in fact. We only wanted something "small" to eat and ended up having a croque monsieur (EUR 11,00) and croquettes de crevettes et fromage,not exactly copious for EUR 16,00, after waiting for over an hour for it. However, it was a lovely afternoon and the place was therefore quite busy. So we were making allowances for this.

Most so called 'brasserie' are just regular restaurants, so it was a delight to come upon the real thing in Overijse. As such, of course there is not an extensive menu, but what is an offer is more than adequate, and the duck dish we selected was delicious at a reasonable price. The service was excellent, and we really liked the convivial atmosphere on the Saturday evening we visited. There was a good mix of ages , with lots of family groups and as many customers just drinking as dining. The eating area is a large open modern space adjoined to the original bus station, so the table space is adequate but the downside is that on a busy evening the noise level is high. Not really the place for a romantic meal, but ideal for meeting up with friends. The house wine was not brilliant, but you get want you pay for, and next time we will invest a bit more. We noticed most people were drinking beer, so perhaps that's the solution (but not for us!). I look forward to visiting when the weather is better and we can take advantage of the terrace giving onto the water.
