Find out what Wine Bar restaurants to try in Bay of Plenty Region. The Bay of Plenty (Māori: Te Moana-a-Toi) is a large bight in the northern coast of New Zealand's North Island. It stretches from the Coromandel Peninsula in the west to Cape Runaway in the east, a wide stretch of some 259 km of open coastline. The Bay of Plenty Region is situated around this body of water, also incorporating several large islands in the bay. The bay was named by James Cook after he noticed the abundant food supplies at several Māori villages there, in stark contrast to the earlier observations he had made in Poverty Bay.

Cellar door - offering tasting & wine sales - 10am to 5pm daily. Restaurant - indoor/outdoor a la carte dining - from 9.30am for brunch & lunch (Wed-Sun)
Four of us came for lunch today & even with an unfortunate incident where the manager had to take someone to hospital, the restaurant continued to operate with little if any inconvenience to guests, sure we had a little longer wait for our orders to be taken but as we were a group with plenty of catching up to do this wasn't a problem. All of us enjoyed our meals - very tasty! The waitress was friendly, we appreciated her letting us know what was happening, & overall the service was up there.

As a local, I am shocked to read the couple of very negative reviews below... I just do not recognise the place they describe as the one friends and I have loved eating/drinking/socialising at countless times over many many years. Have always found the service excellent - friendly, helpful and efficient. Food always very tasty, my favourite being the lamb shanks, always beautifully tender and delicious. One request Gregg: PLEASE bring back the mashed potato instead of the pumpkin, much nicer to go with the delicious lamb shanks! PS> Appreciate that they are happy to give you a 'doggy bag' when can't eat all of the generous serving!Hello NZNana. Pumpkin is gone, with a potato bake with new style Shanks starting today (by coincidence). Mash and Peas will be back for winter 2020.Thanks for the support!

We decided at the last minute to go out for dinner on New Year's Eve whilst on holiday near Tauranga. Lucky enough to find a table at Nomad early in the evening and we had a lovely time listening to the music and enjoying our food. I had the cauliflower risotto which was so delicious! My husband had the lamb rump which he also enjoyed. Both meals were excellent. We opted for a dessert to share - a chocolate fondant. Heavenly! Highly recommend this restaurant.
