Pizzeria Nappino was absolutely simple and delicious. The locals love his restaurant, and we loved it too. We were staying at Castello del Trebbio, and their restaurant was being renovated, so our host recommended we go up the hill to Nappino's. We had pizza and penne arrabbiata. The pasta was the spiciest arrabbiata I've ever had. It was absolutely delicious! The pizza was in the top two pizzas we've ever had in the U.S. and Italy. We came back the following night for more penne and more pizza! I miss the food already!

We ended up here for lunch by accident, and what a delight! Located on the hills of Fiesole about a 30â taxi ride from the Duomo, it is an oasis of calm with great views. The pastas are flavourful, and service the friendliest possible. Apparently, main courses are excellent here. Almost all other customers were local - always a good sign.

Dinner with friends in this wonderful country hamlet. The food is five star, the setting is wonderful but the cherry on the cake was the enthusiastic service from the owner who evidently has a passion for what she does. We had spent a day in Florence and had called our agriturismo for suggestions for a restaurant and this was their suggestions. They took all 14 of us. The servers tolerated our lack of Italian and were extremely helpful when it came to making suggestions! We had wonderful pizzas and pasta- possibly our best meal to that date despite our time in Venice!

My fiancé and I recently dined here while scouting venue locations and were pleasantly surprised. We stopped in late one evening after most patrons had left without any expectations. But wow. The food was simple yet perfectly cooked. We had Ribollita, Cacio e Pepe, and Bisteca Fiorentinaâall spectacular. A perfect example of Tuscan food. We also had the pleasure of chatting with the owner / chef and sampling some of his homemade infusions. We fell in love with this spot and in fact hope to bring our family and wedding party back for dinner next year when we get married nearby!

We have been to the Reggia not often but repeatedly over the course of the past ten years and last night, surrounded by scores of our fellow Americans, we really felt that it's going downhill. Of course the view is wonderful (if you're there by day). And if you don't know Tuscany, the food will be a revelation. The first clue that their standards are dropping was the mixed salads, which to judge from the color, had to have spent several days in the fridge before serving. The next was the tough, stringy beef. And the last was the 'millefoglie' dessert, which consisted of several flat, hard, square biscuits with a filling in between. In a way I don't blame them: foreigners love the ambiance, the friendly service, the setting. It's always packed. Why not cut a few corners? We asked at the agriturismo where we could get an authentic meal, with our one missing entree, the Florentine steak.They immediately recommended this family run, comfortable, not fancy restaurant and we were not disappointed!We were greeted by a couple of generations of family members and were seated, in the empty dining room, empty because we arrived at 7:30 pm, before the normal diners.The staff was busy preparing for what was to be a busy night and were very proud of the meat they were getting ready for the diners.Not wanting to stay up all night with a full stomach, we only had the amazing garlic bread appetizer as well as the spinach side, since the steak was to be the centerpiece. You can see from the photos it was indeed amazing, I forgot to take a photo of the empty plate!The frozen lemon desert was a great way to cool the stomach down a bit.

Sunday lunch for a party of four hungry guys was excellent throughout. This is a popular local restaurant, somewhat difficult to find, but well worth the effort. The specialities are Pasta Ragu and Bistecca a la Fiorentina. With are incredible and the steak is amazing value. There is also a very good selection of antipasti and desserts. One comes our of this place well satisfied. Good ingredient and simple cooking.A good selection of local wines at very reasonable mark-ups goes well with the steak.

We spent 6 nights in Pontassieve and we spent three of those evenings at Sandrino´s! It was crowded every night and this was in the end of October. They serve very good pizza, pasta and other food as well. The place is familyrun. The son was our waiter every time we were there. He ( and the whole family) is so serviceminded and friendly, and he speeks really good English. We finished off every dinner with a nice Aperol Spritz for the adults and icecream for the children.
