Fantastic, that's all you can say about this place. We passed by due to a suggestion of a local - what a great recommendation. You feel like arriving to the real Gran Canaria, far away from the tourism. The cafe itself is very small so we took our dulce back to the hotel. Best desserts we had so far ;-)

One of the most significant Churches in Gran Canaria, the Basilica sits on La Virgen del Pino Plaza and makes an impressive and picturesque impression as you approach along Calle Real.
It was constructed in the eighteenth Century, although there have been Churches on the site for hundreds of years.
I visited mid-morning and, although not busy with visitors, there were several locals quietly praying.

Wine House Museum

Reviewed By Hans B - Groningen, The Netherlands

During the X-Mas days we spend a week at the Canary Islands. We visited the Wine House Museum. It was very disappointing. We expected a real museum (wine cellar, wine barrels, press, tools) and a decent story about making wine. Nothing of this all.
Just a wall of 30 different wines which you could tast (a € 1,50 per glass).

There is a lovely walk from the car park by the little museum (which was closed when we visited) up to the foot of this towering rock, where there are archaeological remains. Views are stunning and extensive. Lots of photo opportunities. Much less touristy than around Roque Nublo.

Area Recreativa de La Laguna

Reviewed By Stanisław Ł - Bestwina

Overlooking stunning views over the Mountains and Valleys of central Gran Canaria lies this little museum. Entrance is free but the enthusiastic owner/guide pleads very nicely for a contribution for the upkeep. There are information leaflets in many different languages with nice descriptions of the 7 caves; bedrooms, kitchen, workplace, garden, a small crafts exibition etc. All of them nicely made up to depict the life of the 20th century cave dwellers of the area. Some seats and a bird cage with different canaries makes a welcoming place to spend a few minutes watching the play of sun and shadow over the valley in front of you.
