Picture was taken on an unusually quite day. Usually this street is busy with locals visiting in outdoor coffee shops, people shopping and children running around and eating sladoled (ice cream). The people are so friendly here, make sure you visit one of the many coffee shops or restaurants.

This gallery is located in the Square of Holy Trinity ( Trg Svetog Trojstva) between the streets Zmaj Jovina and Laza Kostic ( the serbian very well known poets). Milan Konjovic is the native of Sombor town.
We got in this remarkable gallery, which contains over the thousands selected works of the artist and such number of paintings and their diversity give insight into Konjovic's complete opus.
We very attentively passed from one room to another and saw some of his representative oil paintings, pastels, temperas, aquarelles, drawings, tapestries, mosaics, graphics, stained glass windows, also his stage designs ( he worked a lot for theatres) and costume sketches. Very evident, at the first sight, is the artist's recognizable personal expressionist temperament style.
This gallery ought to be seen when in Sombor, that is definitely.

Yesterday we travelled to Sombor in the province of Vojvodina, Serbia.
This town in the northwestern part of Vojvodina, in the region called Bačka, more closely, in the West Bačka administrative district, is the city known among the people as the town of carriages, verdure and architecture. We arrived there via Novi Sad, passing through the picturesque, small places on our road, as Sirig, Srbobran, Vrbas, Crvenka,Sivac, Kljajicevo, this last one, just five kilometres off the Sombor center.
Sombor has got this impressive municipality building, situated in the very nice Heroes's Park, adjacent to the Carmelite monastery and Catholic church. Just walking along the alley with the trees, benches and the bustes of the heroes from the mostly 20th century history ,we got in the front of this baroque styled municipality building.
Very nice facade, with high windows, central balcony, red roof, central tower and two lateral towers, high central massive wooden door and two other doors on both sides of it and before this edifice a chain of very nicely cut the trees ranged in the semi circle, so called simsir ( the kind of tree), all this gives the very pleasant view for one visitor.
Inside we've been attracted by colossal in the sizes of one oil painting, 7x4 metres canvas, depicting the battle between the Ottoman and Austrian army.
For the first site we saw in Sombor, that was more than well.

Here in Sombor, in the Square of Cara Urosa and before the Heroes Park rises this so called "Two Towered Church" and the Carmelite covent. There is one central building and two adjacent elegant towers with clocks on the facades and high wooden windows.
When we got inside, we just admired at the extraordinary stain glass windows and sculptural decorations. Naturally, as in every catholic church, here are the high vaults, columns, nave, benches, altar, some remarkable paintings and as the peculiar thing, the famous organ, very large one.
Again, the incredible serenity within the walls of this church, made us to feel some kinda unstressed and great !

This National Museum of the Sombor is located near and beside the street called Venac (Crown) Petar Bojovic and in the proximity of the Republic Square. Being in the centre, in the Main street, here in Sombor, we, after getting information from the locals, headed little bit to the west, and got to the Museum in a very short time.
The ceremonial opening of the National Museum took the place in 1945. Milan Konjovic, the great serbian painter, was elected as the director of the museum and the poet Veljko Petrovic opened the museum. Nowadays, in museum can be seen all the most important paintings of the Yugoslav authors, the paintings of the contemporary artists of Serbia and Vojvodina, ethnographic items as the local costumes and many other stuffs.
With the time, the Town Museum of Sombor became a cultural institution of museum preservation in the municipalities of Apatin, Odzaci, Kula and Sombor.
Really nice and rich museum !

I visited this park as part of organized group. Although I come from country with beautiful and diverse nature I was really sad when tour ended. I enjoyed peace and quiet, diversity of nature in small area and good guide. She was really informative and answered all of our many questions with patience

Here in the centre of Sombor town, but a little bit hidden from the main pedestrian artery of the city, that is, the Main str. is located this charming by appearance theater, either from outside or inside.
It is situated in the Square Kosta Trifkovic, across the Adventist Church.
The entrance is with the four columns and a nice Terrace above it. At the top there is a pediment. The theatre has got two stages, a large and a small one. The interior is really beautiful, with the seats in the red plush, in parter and galleries as well.
The prominent plays has taken place here, from other theatres or from directors of Sombor as well.
Very nice, indeed !

Just across the Sombor National Theatre, in the Njegoseva str. not in Veljka Petrovica str. as it denoted here, is located this old serbian christian church. In the 17th century, on the location of originally Christian church, existed the Turk's mosque. With the beginning of 18th century, after the Turks left these regions of western nowadays Backa, it was turned into Orthodox church. We entered in this very nice church and spotted the icon of Holy Virgin, which was brought from Kosovo during the Serbian migration under Arsenije Carnojevic.
The church was built in Baroque fashion with elements of Rococo.
Nice church, with beautiful iconostasis and some distinctive icons.

We visited also this church, very near to the Main Street (Glavnjak), as a matter of fact, in the Square Car Lazar, just behind the former Store House "Beograd" in the Main street.
It was built on the ruins of old Turkish buildings, called Plebenija.
The church is made in classic baroque style dedicated to the Holy Trinity. Very nice are the organs inside and the crypt where the noble Sombor citizens of roman-catholic religion were buried.
We liked also this religious edifice.
