Cafe de Sol

If you are looking for a place to chill by the water, in the eary morning when it's still quiet or over the day when it's crowded with young people and cool music, or just get something 'to bite' from Spain cousine, Cafe de Sol is the best places you can visit in the summer in Sombor. On weekends there are live music bands or DJs.

Because of its location by the water this cafe is very popular in summer. If you arrive early, you can get one of the sunbeds and go to swim directly from there. If you want to keep your clothes on, you can sit at one of the tables and enjoy some food (really delicious!), drinks or Deserts. They have also cocktails at low prices. It can get very crowded, especially at weekends. However, the location and the great service always make a visit worthwhile.

We visited the view a few times during our stay in Sombor. The food we ordered was great, and the coffee was pretty good. They have some really good crepes that I would recommend and as a bonus there's free wifi! Good place to go hang out in the evenings.

If you happen to find yourself in this part of the world, make sure you visit this czarda and try its famous fish stew. Fish stew is traditionally prepared in a small kettle on open fire by real fishermen. There are a variety of recipes but most come down to four simple ingredients: carp, onions, ground red paprika and water. Besides gastronomic indulgences, you will enjoy the breeze from the summer Terrace besides Great Bačka Canal.

Emma's Fusion

News reached me about a restaurant being opened in Sombor, so I decided (along with half of town) to check it out. It is located in a renovated old building, locally known as the Kasina. It is not overly decorated, which is refreshing, only thing that stands out are numerous light bulbs of varying sizes and shapes hanging from the ceiling, on wires emanating from a central old-fashioned strainer, a nice touch. The kitchen-themed styling cues don't stop there, there are several thoughtful details like that. I can't comment on any particular dish, as this was the opening and we were served a little-bit-of-everything type platter, but everything I tried was tasty and nobody in our group found any faults with what was offered. A quick flip through the menu revealed that, although there aren't many dishes, every continent's food is represented, making it true to the advertised International fusion doctrine. The invitation leaflet also states that "This is the first restaurant in Sombor with international dishes on offer, as well as vegetarian and vegan dishes, and also food for persons on the Chrono-Nutrition Diet and those gluten and lactose intolerant." To my knowledge, it is the first one offering all those options in one place. The staff speak English, which was useful since there were guests from abroad in our group. I definitely plan to go there in the future, for proper restaurant experience. The only negative I can see so far is that smoking is most probably allowed, as is in every restaurant here.

We were in Serbia for 12 days and visited this spot often! Very good food and fast service! Everything we ordered was in huge portions and cooked very nicely!
The atmosphere is calm and there is an area for children.
Highly recommend everyone to try this spot, you won't be disappointed !

In the pleasant surroundings we offer traditional Vojvodina cuisine, which was cooked by our grandmothers. It is designed for various meetings, business lunches, seminars, ceremonies and weddings. It is also designed for pleasant moments that you spend with your family, with light Vojvodina tamburitza sounds. In addition, the complex has a children's playground and a gallery.

This salash is outside the city in a small village of Gradina - a house with a garden. The restaurant has a genuine feel, cosy with large brick furnaces and numerous paintings and ethnic details that give it a true Old Europe look. The food is superb and you wil be treated like a member of family. Alexander and his mother Dragana prepared the meal fopr us -- the so-called Backi Rucak -- which consists of four courses for ca. 10 euros per person. Great value for money. It consists of appetizers, soup, cooked meet and a mix of fried and baked meet (stuffed turkey) plus desert. All ingredients come from the village.

I ate here as part of organized group which reserved dinner in advance. Waiters were prepared and served us quickly and efficiently. In advance we ordered "Fijaker stake" with potato for everyone. Actually this is steak from pork and orange sauce. This combination is strange but great. Altough at the end I couldn't any more sauce because it was just to sweet. My only reccomendation would be minimize amount of sauce. ;)

My friend Igor Belik told me that if I come to Serbia then I would have to have a Serbian Kebab at his favourite kebab shop in Sombor. And so we went after church and well what can I say. A real treat, fresh ingredients, friendly service, meat and cheese and plenty of range of sauces and salad - yummy
