We had a great time on our wine tour with beautiful wineries and beautiful wine. The tour is exactly as described and because we were traveling during this pandemic, we pretty much had most of these wineries to ourselves. The first stop was Despotika and a perfect start our day. The winery overlooks beautiful vineyards and scenery and we got 4 different types of wines. From here we went to a family house and had a wonderful lunch and also 4 glasses of wine to go with our meal. This is a true Serbian experience as you are in someone's actual house. From there we then went to a museum-like winery that gave us a sampling of wine. This use to be the King's old cellar and still has archives of old wine. A good stop and interesting to learn about. Our last stop was Aleksandrovic Winery which feels like a high-end winery that also overlooks beautiful vineyards. Here we sat until about sunset with delicious wine! We had a great time, and our guide Andrija was great. Also got some photos of our trip which was a nice surprise!! Overall highly recommend.

Transfer from Sarajevo to Belgrade with visits to Visegrad, Andricgrad and Drvengrad offers you not only a cozy transfer between the two places, but also the opportunity to explore interesting places in East Bosnia and Serbia. Andricgrad is a project of a famous film director Emir Kusturica, inspired by works and characters of a famous writer, Nobel prize winner, Ivo Andric.  We will also visit - Ethno Village Drvengrad. Funky Tours arranged several excellent tours while I was based in Bosnia (one or two which were free of charge) between October 2020 and March 2021. This included a food and drink tasting tour, the siege of Sarajevo tour, a day trip to Jajce and Travnik, a day trip to the Srebrenica genocide memorial centre, as well as one to Herzegovina which included stops in Mostar, Medugorje and Pocitelj. Each tour was outstanding and the tour guides, having lived through the events you learn about on the tours, are fascinating people to spend a day with (a big thanks in particular to Taib). I learned so much about Bosnia, past and present, from them.    Booking the tours was always made easy and they even arranged a customised tour of the famous Sarajevo City Hall which included a visit to a replica ICTY courtroom (a big thanks in particular to Ema). I learned so much about Bosnia on each tour - from what it was like living through the war to finding out about the Bosnia of today.  Even although some of the events they cover are difficult for a visitor to comprehend (partly because the country has been largely rebuilt), you come away from it realising how relevant Bosnia's history is to the world we live in today. I was lucky enough to see first hand so many of the great things about the country - its diverse landscapes and stunning views across several towns and cities (especially Sarajevo), how much the country has been rebuilt in the last 20 years (it would not be fair to class Bosnia as 'war torn' any longer), the wonderful mix of architecture and traditions, its excellent local cuisine and of course the down to earth and wonderfully hospitable Bosnian people who are always welcoming of visitors. Bosnians are rightfully keen to show that their country has so much more to it than the war that ended there more than 25 years ago. Having been on several tours I feel like I am just about an expert on all things Bosnia and Herzegovina. I absolutely recommend Funky Tours - in fact I cannot recommend them highly enough. Bosnia is a great country to explore and because of its offering which includes Olympic ski slopes near Sarajevo and vineyards in Herzegovina it can be considered as both a winter and summer destination. The main thing is to make sure you go there at some point - and use Funky Tours to show you around! (the tours I went on were always carried out within covid restrictions, in a small group or one to one)

Although the Topola area is very pretty and the St. George church is amazing, I am not sure this tour is worth the time and expense involved. The sights were probably 4 star, but the value was lower because it was expensive. The Royal Wine tour was only so-so. The trip we took to Novi Sad was a much better itinerary and price, if you are choosing. I am not sure if there is a better way to see the St. George church. Also, although he didn't smoke in the car our guide lit up as soon as he could and often gave us information while walking with a cigarette, which gave me a huge headache by the end of the day.

I had a hard time finding a group tour for the Iron Gate so I was happy to find this group tour! I initially booked the Cruising the Iron Gate tour through a website for a company called Serbian Adventures, but it was actually run by Magelan Travel. I found the meeting point in the morning a bit tricky to find (meet at the bus stop across from the skate park). As best I could tell, I was one of only a few non-locals, but the guide did provide the information in both English and Serbian and it added a bit of adventure to the day! I really enjoyed the fortress (it's a few extra Euros to access the towers) and enjoyed the cruise along the Danube. The lunch stop was also a really lovely surprise! While it was a long day, all in all it was a great way to see a lot of lovely sights in one day.
