This museum is a great place to marvel at toys of the past that have a story. The guide shared captivating details about the various toys and their country of origin. I regretted that no one continues the local production of wooden toys. The small boutique offers some typical handmade puppets made in wood.
This nis a stop that is worth the visit if you still care about the child's soul in you.

We had an amazing day kayaking on the river. Everything was just perfect: the river is beautiful, there are many nice places to go for a picknick and a swim and everything just felt extremely peaceful and quiet. We were met by an enthusiastic team that brought us to the starting point of our kayak trip where they helped us getting ready to go kayaking. During our kayak trip we took our time to fully enjoy the kayaking and stopped a couple of times to enjoy our picknick and go for a nice swim. The water temperature of the river is just perfect for swimming – quite warm but still very refreshing. At the finish point, Matt and his team were already waiting for us. We were very pleased with the organisation of this trip and I would highly recommend this activity to anyone visiting central Portugal. Thank you Rock and River for this amazing day!

Lagoa Comprida

Reviewed By Amazon122s - Santa Comba Dao, Portugal

The “Dam” of the “Lagoa Comprida” has been constructed started from a “Natural Lake”, and became so the principal water reserve of the “Serra de Estrella”, also the great hydro electrical potential was also one of the reasons to start the building of this dam..
The Lagoa Comprida is the biggest massif lake on this height and one of the first engineering works of this nature in Portugal, the building works started in the year 1911.
From the street one you will see the great granite stone wall of the lake, the granite blocks were brought there by the “Glaciers” and called “Blocos erráticos” or “Traveling stones”.
With a lithographical study of the stones they were able to reveal the origin of the stones as well the movement from the glaciers themselves.
The lake was also a few years ago one of the places used for an official training off the “Fly-fish” teams who were participating on the World Champion ship of “Fly-Fishing”.
We had the pleasure to have the official team from Japan and New Zealand in our B&B in that time.
All together the Lagoa Comprida, is worth a stop on your way to Torre or Covilha.
