Sabie is a forestry town situated on the banks of the Sabie River in Mpumalanga, South Africa. The name Sabie is derived from the Tsonga word "Ulusaba" which means fearful, it is derived from the name of the river. The Tsonga called this river Ulusaba ("fearful river") because the river was once teeming with dangerous Nile crocodile. The word Ulusaba was modernized by the Afrikaner colonialists who changed it from Ulusaba (Tsonga) into the Afrikaans "Sabie" .

Well worth the trip from Sabie to see these - despite the numerous potholes which made it an awkward drive. I found it amusing that Mpumalanga roads department have an office on this road - maybe they could start their work right here! Nonetheless, when you get there it is a splendid spot - really high Waterfalls and a peaceful feeling. You feel like you’ve got away from it all. Well worth making the effort for. About a 15 minute drive from Sabie town.

The Mac Mac falls is nicely located between Sabie and Graskop.
It is very easy to park close to the falls just off of the R532.
The falls are worth visiting but are not as spectacular as some of the others in the area. The viewing area provides you with a good view of looking down on the falls - the only sad part is the fence at the viewing area is about 2m tall.

What an amazing adventure. Kloofing was amazing and one does not need to be fit, but it is a workout if you not and the tubing was a relaxing and thrill seeking adventure. July we toured through the Sabie area hunting down all the water falls, its about a 20 minute walk to the falls through some some bushes. The foot path is nice and wide and clear of any brush. Entrance fees are all different at each of the falls, some are per car while other you pay per person.

We visited this area of South Africa specifically to see Lepoard & we had some amazing sightings. Some of the best we have ever experienced & great other wildlife too.

Bring your bathing suit and cool down in the crystal clear waters of these pools that you will share with some colourful birds! There is a fantastic 3,5 very well indicated hiking trail called “the secretary bird trail”. Just follow the yellow shoes and have your camera ready for some klipspringers and wonderful birds!

At Arrival on the sight we heard rumbling thunder in the far. As the local selling people left their shops as they were we thougth by ourselves we did not have to worry about the rearing thunderstorm trusting on their experience we went up to the falls. It was very quiet a that time so we had a good opportunity to make our foto's without being disturbed much.

Have been on this a couple of times now and it's a great ride through the veld down the valley.
Well trained and professional STAFF, if anything could be a bit faster but some of the bends make it a thrilling experience.
Take advantage of the combo and have more than one ride at almost half price.
Would be great for kids.

Parked up, paid our money, pointed in the general direction. Advertised as a a 2km walk. 1 hour later, still no falls. The signage is ridiculous. The staff obviously just don’t care.
Back to the car park, told staff of our feelings and then directed 99 degrees from the initial direction.
Once found, they are worth the visit. But.............
