1. Ruislip Lido Railway

The Ruislip Lido Railway is a 12 inch gauge railway operated entirely by volunteers. The line runs through the woodlands skirting the lake from Woody Bay Station beside the beach, all the way round to Willow Lawn Station which is close to the car park. Here you can watch the loco being turned on the turntable ready for the return journey. The two and a half mile round trip on Britain's longest 12 inch gauge railway takes about 35 minutes. PLEASE NOTE - This TripAdvisor page is for the railway at the Lido. The Lido itself is maintained and operated by the local council.

I’m a railway nut, having been brought up in the 50s and have been on many small, narrow gauge lines all over the place but I thoroughly enjoyed this one. Good rolling-stock, well maintained track of a very good length, and a lovely diesel loco ( pity the steam one wasn’t on). Very friendly staff, all volunteers I believe, who are courteous and efficient.
Well done all.

The only original Battle of Britain RAF Fighter Group Operations Room open to the public. The Operations Room, in reality a series of rooms on 2 levels some 60 feet (18m) underground, is reached via 76 steps. The plotting room with its large map table, squadron display boards, balloon and weather states, is exactly how it was when Winston Churchill visited on 15th September 1940

Amazing WW2 RAF Bunker where the busiest sector number 11 under Keith Park [later Sir] where the squadrons based at Northolt, Tangmere, Biggin Hill and Kenley etc. won the Battle Of Britain. Brilliant account of the Battle from August to October 1940 by a great volunteer. The 1939 air conditioning still works, see where, despite the odds with the right men, aircraft [mainly the Hurricane & Spitfire], early radar and the Observer Corps the Battle was one against the Nazi Luftwaffe. Good little museum too with WW2 artefacts, models, photos, paintings and history of this only recently closed RAF Station. Well worth the suggested £3 donation, loos but no café [yet?] and definitely not for the disabled or infirm as lots of stairs down to reinforced concrete bunker 60 feet under Uxbridge`s soil . Very, very good. See also where Winston Churchill learnt on 1st September 1940 that there were no more reserves.

Went with my 7 year old, could be so much better, the holes are a little unimaginative and it is expensive for a hrs entertainment, he did enjoy it though and the staff were very friendly

From booking to taking part, this has been a first class experience. My lovely hubby got us both vouchers for christmas 2016 but sadly he had to travel on the day we booked and thus needed to change my companion at the last minute, a quick phonecall to explain the situation and Chloe had it all dealt with.
I've never been on a cookery masterclass before so no expectations, but the bar has been set very high after today's experience.
A small group of strangers were welcomed and settled in with a choice of teas or coffee. The tutor for the day, Kumud, gave us lots of insight into why certain spices are used and highlighted the medicinal properties as well as culinary use.
We had the benefit of verbal, observational and hands on learning to ensure we could practice what we had learned. Some of the foods we cooked became our lunch, another dish was prepared by us as a takeaway.
The spices we used were available to purchase at a reasonable price and I took this as an opportunity to obtain 'the real things' as well as further supporting a business.
Kumud and her colleagues run many different courses both inhouse and as corporate events. I would highly recommend anyone with an interest in Indian cuisine to attend this half day course, and if the other courses are a patch on this one they will also be excellent.

Well maintained local park with loads of activities to do. Park have a well maintained cafe, kids playing area, small pond with ducks, an art museum, birds, exercise area and loads of open green space for kids to run around. Highly recommended during summer time.

This hidden gem just outside of Eastcote is a wonderful place to visit if you're in the area for a more interesting stroll in the park. With beautifully kept Gardens tending to different herbs, both medicinal and other, a gentle rolling stream and a wealth of flowerbeds, this place truly captures the essence of a typical English garden. Also has a great cafe serving some homemade food which you can visit.

Disappointed with the show but that's no reflection on the theatre.
Good parking facilities and easy to get to. Recommend parking near the exit as getting out after the show is a joke due to the "pretty" layout. It's not a million mile walk, even for those less mobile.
Once inside, plenty of tables for four, usually reserved, and usually with only two people sat at them meaning that the rest of the audience stand around the foyer like wallflowers with nowhere to put their drinks, coffees or snacks. Big, big minus. It's not as if they haven't the room for a few "poseur" bar tables or even shelves in appropriate places.
Doesn't matter where you sit you are always going to have a tremendous view, and nine times out of ten fairly priced. Looking a bit tired now and we went away with numb bums so maybe the seats could do with re-stuffing. Also, leg room a bit tight which also affects moving along the rows on exit and entry.
Drinks are a bit limited and it's worth pre-ordering interval drinks online (which also offers a discount. My interval drink didn't taste anything like the pre show drink however (Kronenbourg ).
All over, a nice little theatre, but, room for improvement

Denham Country Park offers good walks alongside the Grand Union canal. It is a shame that the peace is spoiled by the noise of the nearby motorways. However, the views are good and you can watch canal boats go through a lock. The visitor centre has an good café with indoor and outdoor Seating and a wide range of food and drinks. The visitor centre itself is little more than a small room containing displays of leaflets and maps. There are toilets on site. Outside there is a large and new children's playground and somewhere where you can have picnics. The adjacent car park is extremely expensive.

Nice and pleasant walk around the lido. Well paved (although some rocky areas), but easily accessible for younger kids with scooters or pushchairs.
Kids climbing area and apparatus dotted around, and an exercise area with free equipment. Plenty to keep all ages busy.
Lots of wildlife to see and watch as you walk around the 2.5k around the lido.
Car park available at a small charge, although we parked on a residential road leading up to it which was free of charge.
Lots of dog walkers - so if you don't like dogs - don't visit!
Hillingdon in the process of developing a new wooden pirate ship which opens 10th March 2018 located on the beach.
Not suitable for swimming (Unless you are a duck or swan!), although beach is nice and clean (dogs not allowed on the beach).
Lovely water sprinklers for hot days, and a little train (£) which takes you around the lido on peak days/season.
Toilets available (although outdoors and very cold), but there is also a cafe and a pub around the lido for refreshments.

Very good for exercise, walking, strolling and chatting with friends and family. Small cafe and play area for children to run off their energy. Hidden behind the main road so could easily be missed however the large green mounds are visible. Can walk around the water area although could have more plants and flowers there. Relaxing local area worth visiting for something different to do.
