Josef Car Hire

Reviewed By HelenaL305 - Malmesbury, United Kingdom

We used Josef Car Hire on our recent family holiday to Malta and I cannot speak highly enough on the the experience. I did a little research in advance and Josef was one of three companies recommended by a number of people. I engaged with the three companies for quotes, as well as a couple of the big well known companies. The communication throughout from Josef was top class. He always responded within 24 hrs with clear answers. I felt I knew exactly what I was ordering and how the system would work. Josef’s team brought the car to our hotel in Silema and at the end of the hire period we dropped it off at the airport on departure. It was all very easy and totally hassle free. The car was clean, fueled and had no mechanical faults. The costs were very reasonable, especially when compared to the big hire companies who were quoting double or treble the price. For a basic Ford Fiesta we paid €20.00 per day which included paying the first €300.00 in the event of damage. We opted to pay an extra €5.00 per day to take the excess down to €0.00. So overall we paid €25.00 per day plus fuel used. We considered this to be a good deal. Driving in Malta was easy. Rather like driving in the UK, although a little more ‘rough and ready’. Having a car gave us independence to treacle around the island which was great fun. When we return to Malta, a call to Josef will be top of my planning list. A first rate experience and a totally satisfied customer. If you are considering hiring a car in Malta I strongly recommend Josef Car Hire.

Malta Classic Car Collection Museum

The Classic Car Collection was the brainchild of obsessive petrol-head Mr. Carol Galea, an avid and self-confessed car enthusiast. He first began customizing and building his own cars for local hill climbing races but his hobby evolved into a full-blown passion for classic cars. This is his personal tribute to the automobile industry – or as he puts it – it’s a ‘living and growing collection that spans more than 50 years of motor manufacturing’ The museum has approximately 100 Vehicles on display ranging from a Jaguars C-Type & E-Type, Alfa Romeos, Fiats, MGs, Mercedes, Chevrolette, Ferrari, Bentley etc. They have all been carefully restored and lovingly preserved. In 2018 the latest very interesting addition was the 'Live Workshop' where one can see real classic cars being restored. There are also a 2 Cinemas and a Motoring Library on site that one can explore.

Been visiting this bar for 7 years (previously Simonselvisbar). Now run by the Spiteri family with a guaranteed friendly welcome from Alexia, Mike and Joanne. Don`t eat before an evening here as the nibbles and more flow from the kitchen, particularly on an entertainment night, which unfortunately, due to current covid restrictions are only a couple of nights a week. Usually most nights, with Monday and Friday`s highly recommended for Elvis fans where you will be entertained by the superb Redent Falzon, 2016 European Elvis tribute champion. The bar also offers an extensive menu with very reasonable prices, and has plenty of outside seating too. Hope to see you all again soon.

Only €10 for a buffet lunch that included a alcoholic beverage. Food was a choice of salads, bread & butter, fish soup, pasta, fish, chicken and tasty beef and gravy, potatoes and vegetables. Plus cake and icecream. I played poker, slots, roulette and blackjack and came out €75 up. Enjoyed the banter at the poker table best. All staff were pleasant and friendly.

Malta National Aquarium

Exhibiting an iconic curved shell structure in the form of a starfish, the Malta National Aquarium is spread over approximately 20,000 meters squared. The public Aquarium has 49 tanks on display hosting around 250 species not only native to the Mediterranean Sea but also others coming from different areas of the planet. This includes saltwater and freshwater fish, jellyfish, reptiles, amphibians and insects. All tanks are expertly themed to replicate the species’ natural underwater environment and the exhibits are themed according to Malta’s historical landmarks.
