Beautiful Willows grace the shoreline with magical beauty and birds. It’s the best walk along the shoreline with Gordy Lightfoot’s statue as a reminder that you are in the home of Mariposa music festival! You’ll be sure to return for the Festival in July!

Worth your while but try to spend a bit of time exploring the many and varied displays. Much of the museum is self-directed; surprises and stories in a host of drawers, if you care to investigate.

Scales is a nature centre and park focused on the conservation of Canadian reptiles and amphibians. Our centre features the most complete live collection of these creatures in the country. Visitors can touch and hold some reptiles, with help from our staff and volunteers. It's great for rainy days! Group bookings for birthday parties, schools, camps, scouts/guides, and others are possible, and our outreach programs travel to similar venues across the province. The park features 3.5 km of nature trails through a variety of natural habitats. Pets are not allowed on the trails or in the centre. Our newest addition is Reptile Camp, a day camp program for kids! Please realize that this is a working conservation facility. We conduct research and stewardship projects locally, and around the province. You may encounter research technicians, field equipment, etc. Current local projects involve 6 turtle species, massasauga rattlesnakes, and chorus frogs. Ask how you can get involved!

Scout Valley is a great place to lose yourself in the middle of Orillia. Well groomed paths take you through mature forests that satisfy all the senses.

The park is very tranquil on a weekday before the mad crush on weekends. This was our first (not the last ) visit to Couchiching Beach park. We had a bbq (bring your own bbq) and a swim at the lovely sand beach. Change rooms and washrooms are right beside beach. The 2 sinks in the middle were covered up with garbage bags for social distancing. Very clean washrooms. Lots of picnic tables, some are under the picnic shelters. Nice wooden boardwalk too. The snack bar and mini train weren't operating when we visited, maybe due to Covid. Parking lot is not very large. Get there early for a spot. Disabled parking available close to beach

It was late October and a cool day so we were quite surprised at the number of vendors available. There was a little bit of everything to browse thru and a lot of food stuff. Most vendors had samples available and it was a great way to experience some new tastes and then purchase what we liked. I much prefer to purchase items and fresh food at a market like this to support local small businesses versus shoping at big stores like WalMart.

We attended an environmentally friendly ecological storytelling event hosted by Lakehead professors are writers sharing a variety of perspectives on environmental issues and climate change. Swanmore Hall is the ideal environment for reasonably small gatherings 75 people. The view of the lake on a winter’s day was particularly appropriate for the topic. We love Swanmore Hall - for many reasons. It is our favourite part of the Leacock premises.

We had a great experience at Bass Lake. We had gone for Group Camping during end of Jul'2019. Park is very good especially Group Camping sites 1 and 2 are very good, they are very spacious and leveled. Park employees were also very polite and helpful. Bass lake has nice beach area, bit small but very good. We were not able to do boating due to tunderstorm warning at the time we were there. Walmart and other stores are also nearby withing 5km raidus. Trail walks are not that big but reasonably good. We didnt face any major issue with Mosquitoes or bees. Toilets were cleaned every morning. Its a must go if you are camper and want to enjoy.
