Northwich is a town and civil parish in the unitary authority of Cheshire West and Chester and the ceremonial county of Cheshire, England. It lies in the heart of the Cheshire Plain, at the confluence of the rivers Weaver and Dane. The town is about 18 miles (29 km) east of Chester and 15 miles (24 km) south of Warrington. 19 miles south of Manchester and 12 miles south of Manchester Airport. Northwich has been named as one of the best places to live in the United Kingdom according to The Sunday Times in 2014.

I bought my husband an experience voucher for Xmas last year and we booked to attend last week. It had been quite unpredictable weather wise but Nanette did everything she could to accommodate us and fit us in between the rain forecast. My husband had an extremely enjoyable and interesting experience with both Nanette and her husband pulling out all the stops to make it a memorable time. The birds are so loved and cared for by them and my husband handled birds of prey of all varieties along with vultures and beautiful owls. I cannot recommend Vale Royal highly enough. We had a personal experience, just my husband and myself as spectator, which I would say is the most special and we definitely got more than our money's worth. We are to return during October with my grandson for the hawk and owl walk which he is very much looking forward to. This is a definite present or experience for any age, just make sure you pre book and wear wellies :-)

This was absolutely awesome experience, been to Birds of Prey things elsewhere and you are amongst a crowd and only get t see them flying, here you are in a very small group and get to handle them. Gary's presentation was just wonderful. I would recommend this experience to anyone. I'm still buzzing the day after. I got to Hadley an owl called Finn, a Harris Hawk, a Kestrel and a Falcon. Mind blowing and worth every penny.

I visit Marbury Country Park on a regular basis, sometimes walking (or even cycling) from Northwich town, through the Community Woodlands and across the canal bridge. There is good bird watching in the park, on Neumann's Flashes, along the canal, and on Budworth Mere (where a bittern booms from the reed beds). It is worth visiting at different times of the day and year, and is an ideal place for our grandchildren to let off steam. I always take my camera as there are plenty of photo opportunities, especially around the side of Budworth Mere. There is an excellent network of paths in the area taking you further afield to the Anderton Boat Lift, the Trent and Mersey Canal, picturesque Great Budworth and the Lion Salt Works. Unfortunately, although most dog owners are considerate to others, a small minority are less so.

Visited with our two granddaughters aged 10 and 8. What a lovely time we had. Fun all day with feeding kids by bottle, petting rabbits and Guinea pigs, seeing newly hatched ducklings and chicks, grooming ponies, seeing cows being milked not to mention the supersized bouncy castle and mechanical diggers. The tearoom provided excellent lunches at very reasonable prices. We enjoyed the ride from the car park in a tractor drawn trailer. All the staff were delightful, friendly and polite. The children had a wonderful time. Excellent value for money. Very impressed with cleanliness and presentation. Thank you so much.

A beautiful place to walk without getting too muddy. Lots of stoned paths, some nice views of the lake and mosses. Parking can be difficult because the Forest is a very popular place to visit but is easier if you go towards Moldsworth/Ashton.

Visitors are frequently struck by the warm and intimate atmosphere and the feeling that Arley is a much-cherished family home. The Gardens, which are amongst the finest in Britain, are outstanding for their vitality, variety and historical interest and are particularly celebrated for the magnificent double herbaceous border. The Hall is an impressive example of a Victorian country house built in the Elizabethan style.

Superb teamwork from initial planning to waving our thrilled guests off on a beautiful snowy night, this is what Arley can deliver for your wedding.
The delectable food was astonishing, all served in casseroles on the tables. Short braised beef ribs, chicken tagine, cous cous, creamy potato dauphinoise, red cabbage, and roast potatoes all done to perfection.
This was preceded by exotic canapés and smoked haddock chowder. The dessert table was a culinary achievement with bread and butter pudding, apple and pear crumble, lemon mousse, chocolate almond cake and Nigella's christmas pudding cake. All were utterly delicious.
We want to thank Rachel, the amazing chef and the rest of the lovely personable team who took care of our every wish, and the attention to detail.
Arley Hall is without doubt one of the best places in the north for a wedding venue. It's fabulous interior is atmospheric and intimate, it simply was the most memorable day of our lives. Our guests were raving about it, everyone was happy.

The Rowlinson family have lived at Abbeywood since 1987, during which time they have made many improvements and additions to the Gardens. The year starts in February with many varieties of Galanthus in Jane's Garden, followed by other Spring favourites, Erythroniums and Trilliums, to name but a few of her rare plants. The Main Garden is divided into separate areas. The formal layout gives way to naturalistic planting within. Early May starts with Tulips followed by Alliums and Camassia. Seasonal interest continues until around mid September - weather depending. The Christopher Lloyd inspired Exotic Garden, designed around the remnants of the old vegetable garden, is filled with Dahlias, Cannas, Banana and other tender perennials. These continue until the first frosts. The Young Arboretum is planted with rare evergreen and deciduous trees for year round interest. A 2km, wildlife walk incorporates the existing and new woodland on the 45 acre grounds.

We came here for a wedding and had a stay in the accomodation overnight.
The wedding itself was beautiful. The venue is truly stunning and the Gardens are very well kept. I would especially commend the venue representative at the wedding, a girl who made sure the whole day went perfectly.
However we were rather disappointed with the accomodation and reception by the owner. The wedding party had reserved rooms at their on-site accomodation. The rooms are lovely, clean and very comfortable. However it is clear that this is the owners house that they rent out for events. Wardrobes were filled with clothes and the owner's belongings, there were photo frames left out with family photos and some of the owner''s trousers were even left out on the bed!
We considered the rooms to be terribly expensive given that it had no hotel facilities as such (gym, bar,reception) and that breakfast was not even included in the price. Compared to other hotels in the area, this is very bad value for money.
Finally we agree with previous reviews with regards to the owner's professionalism. One of our party had a problem with overbooking a room. Whilst in the end he was accomodating and allowed us to use a sofa bed, he did so whilst complaining about previous guests. We thought that this was very rude, such that we worried what would be said about us. Moreover his appearance was rather casual and did not portray a hotel owner or manager.

This is such a wonderful little place. Beautifully maintained and real love has gone into it all, the staff who work here should be incredibly proud of this little haven.
I thought we'd be here half and hour to let the toddler let of steam...in fact we were here for about 3 and still the toddler wept on leaving, such was his love of the place!
Firstly, a lovely little playground with the usual swings, slides etc, all properly maintained and safe for toddlers.
Next we went and had a look at the chickens and the little aviary with some beautiful little birds in there.
The crazy golf is perfect for little ones, some very easy holes and a few more difficult at the end to keep them entertained. Free to use but bring your own clubs and balls for them as there are none there. (I got him a set in b&m down the road for £2.49 including club and 3 balls)
Before we left we had a game of football on the bowling green (not sure if this is the done thing or if you are supposed to keep off them, but did make for a perfect pitch and we had the park to ourselves today, (monday morning in term time).
The loos are a bit basic, typical sort of park toilets, but they were clean. Cafe was shut today so can't comment on that but lots of nice picnic tables spread out by the playground, so might come back again with a picnic.
Can't stress how much fun the little one had here, and I spent absolutely nothing all morning! Such a good little find.

The museum is the last remaining part of the old workhouse and has some interesting memories on display. There is an introductory film which is worth watching. A school is held for children to give them an insight into what real schooling was like back in the day (I only remember half of the hardships but I've seen pictures of my parents schools).
The museum ties in with Lion Salt works which we didn't have time to visit unfortunately but seems worth a visit while in the area.
