Agate Beach was a real favourite. The pebbles on this beach are SO well rounded and mature and colourful... reds, yellows, greens, jet blacks, brilliant whites. Pure Agates are there and not as easy to find as the "sugar agates" which also pick up the light but are not quite as translucent. A powerful, high energy beach against the forest background of old trees. Loved it!

Andrew Merrilees, owner of the Haida Gwaii Discovery Tours, runs a wonderful tours of the Haida Gwaii Islands (Queen Charlotte Islands) in British Columbia. He made all the arrangements from booking flights from Vancouver, putting us up at the marvelous Haida House, organizing wonderful meals and driving us all over in his van. Andrew is very knowledgeable about Haida culture and values. We got to see many exciting attractions that I'm sure most tourists would never see. Andrew is the mayor of Masset, so he knows everybody! He treated us like family - it was a wonderful experience.

Turn in at Hydro Pole 71 to find a small building packed with Haida and other local artists' works. Wood carvings, original paintings, prints, jewelry, knitted goods, books, scarves, Haida paddles, and more. Johanne is the cheery person who greets you and answers your questions. This is a gallery worth the drive north from Masset. Don't miss it. I was lucky enough to be gifted with a Haida paddle my group purchased at Chown Gallery.

Booked a charter with Wiah Point Adventures. Had great weather for our 3 day charter.
There were 6 of us, plus the skip and guide... the boat we were on was 40' they also have another boat that's 28'.
The owners are kirt and laina Holland and are locals of masset, so lots of knowledge of the waters and the haida culture.
Our group had a great time lots of laughs and they were great hosts.
If your planning a trip to masset and would like to add to your experience then book with an actual local business that live here year round.
Enjoy your adventure.

If your here in the summertime, this is the place to go for a refreshing swim. Normal temp at the lake in the summer months is 85F and the swimming area is very shallow. You can wade out at least 100' or more before it really starts to get deeper, there are picnic tables at the shore line.
At the pull out, park and take a short stroll down the trail maybe 3 minutes of walking time.
Enjoy your visit.
