We left Queenstown in bright Sunshine to arrive at the start of the Routeburn trail as it started to rain. We set off with Charles up the trail, with Charles telling us about the flora. We had a few close encounters with friendly robins.
The rain just kept getting heavier and by the time we reached the Flats Hut we were soaked. But hey nothing you can do about the weather. The walk there was not as difficult as I had thought it would be.
The walk back down was much quicker and the sun came out about 2/3rds of the way down.
We made a couple of stops on the drive back - the scenery was stunning.
Thank you Charles for a great day in challenging conditions. Welcome to New Zealand .

Great way to spend a relaxing afternoon. The animals all had interesting personalities and were so much fun to interact with. The surrounding views on a good weather day were just the icing on the cake. Staff were very friendly and made you feel at home. You could feel their love for the animals, countryside and respect for the environment. We were allowed to re-visit anytime throughout the day and so we returned later to watch the sheep shearing show which was very informative.

Glenorchy Lagoon Boardwalk

The walk takes about an hour. It’s level and includes boardwalks over marshy landscapes and benches at several overlooks. We enjoyed three things in particular: the peaceful quiet, the lack of bugs and a swampy smell, and the beautiful black swans in the dozens. All of this surrounded by a backdrop of the peaks of the Remarkables and Mt. Earnslaw. Well worth your time.

I had been looking forward to this ride for Months, having previously done an amazing horse ride back in 2005. Unfortunately torrential rain caused the rivers to flood and as a result my birthday full-day horse ride had to be cancelled. Thankfully the staff were very understanding and offered some alternative options.
I chose to go on a shorter private ride in the afternoon (giving the rivers time return to safe levels). This turned out to be a truly amazing experience. As an experienced rider I was given the opportunity to challenge my riding, which made the ride one of the best I have ever had.
My horse Jungle and guide, whose name I can't remember (So wish I could, because I couldn't have asked for a better guide). Were such a pleasure, It felt almost like I was having a ride out with friends.
Jungle my horse was wonderful to ride. I felt very safe, even though he was a forward going horse.
What more can I say. The staff are fantastic, the location and scenery are incredible. The horses are very high quality and well cared for. It is clear that everyone here has a true passion and love for horses. I will definitely ride here again on my next visit

My partner and I stay in Glenorchy for one night. We stayed at Mrs Woolly's campsite.
The general store is a little shop but extremely over priced. One pack of TimTams was $8.90! When you can buy them for $1.99 else where. I believe that they over charge like this because Glenorchy is in the middle of nowhere and they can get away with it!

You would be hard pressed to find a better photographic tour of the South Island of New Zealand. Having Chris McLennan and Dean Fitzpatrick as our guides with their local experience provided all of on this tour an experience we will never forget. We were taken to off the road parts of the country and stayed in some of the loveliest accommodation where the larger tour buses we not seen. The work that Chris and Dean put in to ensure everyone learns a lot, improves their photography skills and captured the heart and essence of the country was second to none. We were up at sunrise and out at sunset and utilizing our time on this trip as every photographer wants to do. There is rest time and you can opt to sit and edit photos when an opportunity exists, but this trip is all about experiencing it outdoors whilst you are there. The South Island is just amazing and the scenery is spectacular and with the guidance of Chris and Dean we were able to capture that in our photos that we have. They both have a lot of patience and photographic knowledge and are great patient teachers. It is a small group of people on the South Island tour for 15 days and we had the best group of people that made the trip even better. We would be out and about capturing our images in some ideal spot and then back in the van on our way to the next marvel, when we would pull up and Phil, our great cook and all round helpful guy, would be in some amazing place with lunch cooked up on the portable BBQ and the table fully set for us ready to recharge and get us on to our next adventure. As photographers you don't want to be rushed back onto buses and moved from one place to the next and this certainly won't happen on this trip. Yes you have to get to the rooms before they shut up for the night, but you have every opportunity and time given to you to capture the image in the location you are at. The schedule is worked out really well. You can tell this is a great business run by family and friends, all working together to ensure we great a great experience. Patricia is excellent and so helpful with the bookings, so don't hesitate in giving her a ring to assist you with your bookings. I already have my next trip booked with Dean and Chris with great friends that I met on this NZ trip. Don't hesitate to use this company for a great photographic experience. Check out Instagram account @keo68 if you are interested seeing what you can capture on this amazing adventure.
